Margaret L. Forney
June 30, 2010

Margaret L. Forney, age 93 of Reedsburg died on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. She was born on September 4, 1916 in Elgin, IL the daughter of Harry and Maude (Walker) Strong. She lived in Elgin, IL most of her life and worked many years at the Elgin Watch Factory. She married Hal Forney in December 1965. They lived in Miami, FL for several years and then returned to Elgin, IL. She later moved to Wisconsin to be closer to her sister and family. Margaret enjoyed going to dances, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Hal, her sister, Madeline (Glen) Pearson , her niece, Sandra Hudson and a nephew, Jay Huss.
She is survived by her niece: Marilyn (Tom) Schneider of Kendall, WI
Her nephew: Jim Hudson of Hannibal, MO
Great nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Kent) Bishop of Edina, MN
Stacy (Chad) Wickert of Watertown, WI

Private family services were conducted at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Burial took place in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial of remembrance in the name of Margaret Forney is appreciated.

 
 

Robert French
June 28, 2010

Robert L. French, age 68 of Baraboo, passed away under the excellent care of Home Health Hospice on Monday, June 28, 2010 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born September 6, 1941 in Monroe, WI the son of Leonard and Ruth (Wells) French. He was married to Elaine Leppert on February 27, 1965. This marriage was blessed with six wonderful children and they were blessed with 45 years together. Robert worked for Deppe Enterprises and Deppe Transit for 30 years. He had a passion for pool, which he played for over 45 years and won many awards for. But none meant more to him than the friends he had made. Bob was a truck driver by heart and had just started working for the Harrison family, when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. Even though he had only worked for them a short time, Bob’s family is very thankful for the Harrison family’s never ending support, kindness and care. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, both sets of grandparents, aunts and uncles and a grandson Robert Allen French.

Visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 1- 4:30 P.M. The family requests memorials of remembrance for Bob in lieu of flowers.

 
 
August F. Laechelt
June 21, 2010

August Frank Laechelt passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010. He was born October 5, 1915 in Fayette, Lafayette County, Wisconsin to William R. and Anna L. (Duff) Laechelt. He was married to Marlene L. Rudy on May 30, 1940. They lived in Butler, Wisconsin until 1967. He had worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad Company, and then for Butler Lumber Company. They moved to rural LaValle in 1967 when he became a full time beekeeper. August had been president of Wisconsin Honey Producer’s Association, and past member of the American Beekeeping Federation. He was a member of the LaValle United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene of LaValle;
One son, Ronald Lee (Eyvon) Laechelt of Helena, Alabama;
One grandson, Billy (Tara) Laechelt of Birmingham, Alabama;
One great-grandson, Caleb of Birmingham, Alabama;
Three brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James David; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for August Laechelt will be conducted on Friday, June 25, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the United Methodist Church in LaValle with Pastor David Farina officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery in LaValle. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.

 
 
Kenneth O. Gibeaut
June 16, 2010

Kenneth O. Gibeaut, age 92 of Reedsburg left to be with our Lord on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. He was born on March 7, 1918 in LaValle Township, Sauk County, WI the son of Jesse and Emma (Piehl) Gibeaut.
He was married to Irma Pearson in Decorah, IA on February 28, 1940. This marriage was blessed with two daughters and they were blessed with 70 years together. Ken farmed for 30 years, first in Hillsboro, then in LaValle and then in Ironton. After leaving the farm they moved to Reedsburg where Ken worked for the Reedsburg Farmers COOP, then in maintenance for the City of Reedsburg, retiring in 1984. He kept busy doing things around the house and outdoors as he enjoyed being in the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Keith; his son-in-law, Jim Frank and brothers and sister-in-law, Harold (Irma) Pearson and Wilbur Pearson.
He is survived by his wife: Irma of Reedsburg

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the United Methodist Church, Reedsburg with Pastor David Farina officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-7 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home and again on Wednesday at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. The family requests memorials of remembrance to the United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.

 
 
Nancy J. Horkan
June 9, 2010

Nancy J. Horkan took the hand of God and walked into a life of eternal love with her heavenly family on Wednesday morning, following a patient and courageous battle with a brain tumor. She told us in a recent family meeting that she, “loved life with us here, but would continue to watch over us from heaven.” She will be remembered as an wonderful Mother, caring friend, and faithful follower of the word of God. Through her final days she remained more focused on the well-being of others instead of herself. She was a collector of interesting quotes and one of her favorites was “kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

Nancy was born in Adams on October 13, 1931. She was the loving daughter of James I. and Leona M. Curry. James was a conductor on the Milwaukee Railroad and Leona was an accomplished pianist - Nancy’s love for music and performance was lifelong. Mom was a primary leader in the music boosters of Reedsburg for many years. She was an enthusiastic audience member of all school musical events and CAL center performances up until her final days. She would personally praise all who were involved and was especially proud when her children and grandchildren were able to participate in them. She strongly supported reading and education while working as a librarian at Reedsburg South School and the Reedsburg public library for many years. Nancy was a 4-H leader in the Dellona-Friendship 4-H club, a member of the Del Aire Homemakers, and a faithful member of the Catholic Daughters and Council of Catholic Women.

Nancy is survived by her children Debbie (Art) Liegel Stevenson, Pat (Nita) Horkan, Mike (Sue) Horkan, Diane (Gary) Bindl, Mariane (Mike) Goetsch, Richard (Mary Jo) Horkan, Tim (Mary) Horkan, Ken (Jill) Horkan, her grandchildren Jeff (Laura) Liegel, Ginni (Travis) Hamele, Lisa (Ryan) Brown, Chad (Ellen) Stevenson, Tammy (Jeff) Miller, Jennifer Horkan, Chad Horkan, Katie Horkan, Mandi (Ryan) Thompson, Tim (Tara) Bindl, Jodi (Bob) Clyde, Andrew Bindl, Nick (Sarah) Goetsch, Michele (Nic) Woolever, Michael, Julia, Alexa, & Elliot Horkan, Kenny, Jessica, Jordan, & Donovan Horkan, great-grandchildren Elise, James, & Ava Liegel, Adison & Brinley Hamele, Carter & Cooper Brown, Jack & Kate Stevenson, Jerrod & Melanie Miller, Sylvia Horkan & Lilly Martin, Jacob & Wyatt Thompson, Haylee & Gavin Goetsch. Her brother, Ken (Sue) Curry and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her children’s father, James P. Horkan, her son-in-law, James L. Liegel, and her grandson, Matthew L. Horkan and her brothers Dennis and James Curry.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, June 13th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg and a visitation will be held at 1:00 at the church. Visitation will also be held at Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg on Saturday, June 12th, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in the name of the Nancy J. Horkan music scholarship fund that will be established in her honor.

 
 
Charlotte P. Gill
June 9, 2010

Charlotte P. Gill, age 97, of Reedsburg, formerly of Lake Delton, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Sauk County Health Care Center. She was born on March 20, 1913, in Chicago, IL and moved to Zion, IL at an early age. She graduated from Zion Preparatory College in 1931. On June 25, 1937, Charlotte was united in marriage to Donald J. Gill at the Zion Hotel. This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Avis. After their marriage, Charlotte and Don moved to Kenosha where they owned and operated Don Gill’s Bike Shop. The couple enjoyed many years of travel to various cycling races and cycled tandem together. They later moved to Lake Delton in the early 1990’s and spent their winters in Florida. Charlotte enjoyed reading and bird watching and cycling well into her 70’s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gill, on March 1, 1994; parents, George and Maie Ballegooyen; father, Richard Johnson; brother, David Ballegooyen and sister, Vivian Woodman.

She is survived by her daughter, Avis Mohring;
Granddaughter, Stacey (Jake) Kulas;
Great-grandchildren, Bailey and Micah Kulas all of Reedsburg;
Sisters, Dorothy (Rev. Earl) Minton of Colorado Springs, CO,
Mona (Roger) Luther of Beach Park, IL,

Several nieces and one nephew, along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Charlotte P. Gill will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Pastor Sonny Hyde officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials of remembrance may be made to the Myositis Association.

 
 
TJ McGinnis
June 6, 2010

Theodore James “TJ” McGinnis, Jr., age 25, of Reedsburg, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 6, 2010 in his home from sudden unexpected death from epilepsy. He was born in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, on February 26, 1985, the son of Theodore McGinnis, Sr., and Janice Lohr McGinnis. He graduated from Reedsburg Area High School in 2005, where he played soccer and baseball. He was also a member of the choir. TJ was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he had served as an usher. As a high school student, TJ was active in the youth group, and participated in their mission trips. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a ten-year member of Mirror Lake 4-H and had recently been a 4-H leader. TJ was a fan of the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. He enjoyed hanging out with his brother and sister and attending sporting events. TJ most recently was employed at Kalahari Resort.

His sister, Paulina Marie McGinnis, December 21, 2001 and his maternal grandfather, Robert Lohr, September 11, 1999, preceded him in death.

TJ will be remembered for his helpfulness and patience, especially with his young cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 14, 2010, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsburg with Pastor David Glesne officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-7 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg and again on Monday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Memorials of remembrance may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.

Madaline L. Holby
June 5, 2010

Madaline L. Holby, age 90, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg. She was born on July 6, 1919, in Mauston, Wisconsin, the daughter of Waldon and Mildred (Jackson) Granger. On October 18, 1939, Madaline was united in marriage to John G. “Jack” Holby. This marriage was blessed with four children. She farmed with her family in the LaValle area for many years. She loved all aspects of farming and even after moving to town, she loved to discuss farm life. Madaline was also employed with Ray-O-Vac in Wonewoc for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Reedsburg.

In earlier years, she and Jack loved gathering their family together for a day of fishing at Lake Redstone. She also loved spending time tending to her large garden. Madaline cherished the time she spent with her family, whether it was caring for her grandchildren, baking pies and playing games with her great-grandchildren or preparing Sunday dinner for her family. She will always be remembered for her ability to prepare a meal at a moment’s notice for whoever stopped by. She will be sadly missed by all.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; three sons, Gary in infancy, Duane and Jackie; sister, Vera Stout; brother, Arnold Granger; sister, Emma Granger in infancy.

Funeral services for Madaline L. Holby will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Bob Brandhagen officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery in LaValle. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.

Terrence Frambs
May 30, 2010

Terrence ‘Terry’ K. Frambs, age 70 of Reedsburg died on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Sunny Hill Health Care Center following an extended illness with cancer. He was born on January 25, 1940 in Syracuse, NY, the son of Robert R. and Florence L. (Kast) Frambs. He graduated from Baraboo High School, class of 1957 and then attended U.W. Madison where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He attended Northeastern University and received his Masters in Computer Systems Operating and Design. For many years he worked in Boston and Philadelphia for Honeywell and IBM. He also worked on projects for them in Paris and Germany. During his employment he published several articles on computer system designs. In the 1980’s he decided to be an independent consultant for designing computer operating systems in order to work 6-8 months a year and travel the rest of the time. At this time he lived in Phoenix, AZ and later also owned a home in Reedsburg. His travels included several trips to Paris, Singapore and Japan. He enjoyed sports. While out East he bowled and participated in a few regional PBA’s. He also enjoyed attending Wisconsin Women’s Volleyball and the Madison Mallards games many times traveling to away games. He was a free spirit who enjoyed a variety of different automobiles and bicycling - sometimes entering rides of 100-250 miles. He was preceded in death by his parents and aunt & uncle, Carrie & Paul Licht.
He is survived by his brother, Robert A. ‘Bob’ (Kathy) Frambs of Madison
Nephew: Brian Frambs of Madison
Niece: Tammy Haberkorn of Cottage Grove
3 Grandnephews: Deven, Mason and James
many cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. in the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 until the time of service. Burial will follow in Narrows Prairie Cemetery, Reedsburg Township.

Marion H. Heidrich
May 28, 2010

Marion H. Heidrich, age 83 of Reedsburg passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Maple Ridge Assisted Living Facility in Reedsburg following an extended illness. She was born on November 3, 1926 in Cazenovia, WI the daughter of Clinton and Gladys (Treat) Bernaman. She was married to Robert Heidrich on October 1, 1947 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg. This marriage was blessed with seven children. Marion was a caring person who was concerned about others and would pray for those in need and she enjoyed visiting with family and friends on the telephone. She was a good mother who loved to cook great meals for her family. She loved flowers, soap operas, watching birds and was fond of nature. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert and three sons, Charles, Dennis and Kevin and a son-in-law, Robert E. Belles Sr..
