Larry Youngerman
March 6, 2010

Larry Arthur Youngerman, 63, of Reedsburg, WI (formerly of Springfield, Ohio), passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born on January 5, 1948, in Springfield, Ohio the son of Arthur and Doris (Anderson) Youngerman. He was the defensive lineman for Miami East High School from 1964 to 1966. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1973. Where he was awarded The Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement from January of 1968 to April of 1969.
He married his wife Elaine, in Fort Atkinson on January 28, 1993. Larry was employed at the Flooring Center and the Kitchen, Bath and Design center in Baraboo until his retirement last year. He was an avid Ohio State fan, enjoyed golfing, vacationing and taking road trips, fighting with his little dog Bella, and fishing with his nephew Johnny.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Elaine Youngerman, daughters Julie (Tim) Baker and Terri Lynn Anderson. Three brothers Steve (Mabel), John (Sue), and Mike and his Aunt Betty Thomas. Three grandchildren Cody (Julie), Travis (Terri), and Kayla (Terri) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Johnny, and sister-in-law, Genny (Mike).
Love is stronger than death even though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can't separate people from love. It can't take away our memories. In the end, life is stronger than death. He was such a wonderful person, we will all miss him dearly.
Memorial services will be held in Ohio and are pending. The family is requesting memorials of remembrance be made to the American Cancer Society.

Judith A. McDonough
March 5, 2010

Judith Ann McDonough, age 66, of Reedsburg, died on Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. Judy had a variety of careers including Real Estate Agent, Sales Person at Riverside Fashions and Customer Service at Lands End. Judy enjoyed golfing & socializing at the Country Club, camping with her family & special fellow club members, but mostly enjoyed just being with her family & friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gordon McDonough Jr, of Reedsburg, WI, her sister-in-law Betty Dieter of Wheat Hollow, her mother-in-law Myrtle McDonough of Muscoda, WI, and her father-in-law Gordon McDonough Sr, of Richland Center, WI.

Betty J. Graber Rose
February 20, 2010

Betty J. Graber Rose, age 83 of Reedsburg died on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. She was born on January 17, 1927 in Boaz, WI the daughter of Orville and Julia (Dieter) Standish. She graduated from U.W. Platteville with her Bachelors degree of education; and spent 23 years of her teaching career at St. John’s School in Spring Green. Betty was a woman of strong faith and was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hillpoint. She enjoyed bowling, cards, music, fellowship with people and was involved in many volunteer activities which allowed her to help people. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Preceding her in death, were her parents, a son, Larry Gruber in 1967; husbands, Michael Gruber and Homer Graber; brothers, Donald and Dale Standish; Sister, Geraldine Standish and Sister-in-law, Lucille Standish.

Her husband survives her: Melvin Rose of Reedsburg; Children: Michael (Linda) Gruber of Black Earth, Julie (Ken) Vesely of Abbottsford; Step Children: Diane Rose of Black Earth, Duane (Judy) Rose of Hillpoint, Dana (Cindy) Rose of Hickman, Neb.; Grandchildren: Brent (Becky) Gruber, Craig (Nicole) Vesely, Andrea (Randy) Fuerst; Step Grandchildren: Daren (Susan) Rose, Travis (JoAnn) Rose, Teresa (Daniel) Judd, Carissa, Michael, Taylor and Terrell; Great Grandchildren: Alexa, Carter; Step Great Grandchildren: Dilon, Paris, Devin, Skyler, Jayden, Corey, Nicholas and Shanna

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hillpoint with Pastor Duane Daeke officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, rural Hillpoint. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home and again on Thursday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.


 
 
Reinhold Lucht
February 19, 2010

Reinhold H. Lucht, age 85 of LaValle died on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Greenway Manor in Spring Green. He was born on October 18, 1924 in LaValle Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin the son of Herman and Anna (Prochnow) Lucht. He farmed the family farm in rural LaValle all his life, sold seed corn and was an insurance representative for Farmers Mutual Insurance in Wonewoc and Reedsburg Westfield Mutual. He was involved in 4-H as a dairy project leader, loved watching football and baseball games as well as playing cards. Reine enjoyed meeting people, talking with them and enjoyed the occasional debate over various topics. He loved to travel and could speak fluent German. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Martin on Jan. 17, 2000; 3 brothers, Art, Frank, Victor; 5 Sisters, Minnie Hartje, Tillie Daugs, Ella Schultz, Lydia Brandt and Christina Lucht.

He is survived by his sons: Paul (Vicky Elliott) Lucht of Stoughton

Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, LaValle. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home and again on Tuesday at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorial of remembrance may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.

David R. Kline
February 18, 2010

David R. Kline, 51, of Mauston, WI, passed away on February 18, 2010 at the UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 6, 1958 in Elmhurst, IL, the son of Ronald Sr. and Betty Lou (Anderson) Kline of Lombard, IL. David was employed at Swiss Colony and Vacuum Platers in Mauston before receiving medical disability for a traumatic incident that resulted in the loss of both arms in 2005.

David is survived by his wife, June of Mauston; sister, Gail (Gary) Belsom of Lombard, IL; brothers, Daniel of Marathon, WI and Dennis of Reedsburg; as well as a wealth of friends and fellowships in the Mauston area. His brother Ronald died last March of cancer.

David inspired his family, friends and community with his courage and determination, overcoming unimaginable obstacles and difficulties. His passionate care for animals earned him a lifetime membership in the Juneau County Humane Society.

Memorial services will be held in early spring at the Mauston Cemetery.


 
 
Elizabeth Seymour
February 14, 2010

On February 14, 2010, Elizabeth Agnes Seymour passed away peacefully at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, FL. She was born on December 5, 1911, to Kathryn (Thomas) and Eugene Faivre of Ironton, WI, the third of six children. She graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1928, and did her teacher’s training at the Sauk County Normal School the following year. She taught in several Sauk Country schools until her marriage to Lewis A. Seymour, who preceded her in death in 1960. Elizabeth returned to teaching in 1963, and in 1970, moved to Waunakee where she taught at St John's Elementary until her retirement, at age 70, in 1982. She had high expectations of her students and great joy in watching them learn and grow. In 1981, she was awarded Outstanding Educator by the Waunakee Jaycees. She was a member of Sherman Avenue Methodist Church, Madison, WI.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Milton Diehl of Sarasota, FL and Carol and Michael Alvin of Waunakee, WI and daughters-in-law Susan Seymour of Mendota Heights, MN and Michele Seymour of Rice Lake, WI; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff (Gretchen) Seymour, Dawn (James) Dolan, Bobbette (David) Gilbertson, James (Tammi) Seymour, Jenni (Travis) Ludvigson, Patrick (Krista) Alvin, and Chris (Lori) Alvin. She was the fond grandmother of 12 great-grandchildren and was looking forward to the arrival of her 13th great grandchild. She is further survived by a brother and sister in law, Francis and Marlene Faivre, Burlington, WI and sisters-in-law Ruth Faivre, Las Vegas, NV and Margaret Seymour, West Bend, WI.; her special Florida "daughter", Bunny Francis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two sons, Lawrence and Lewis Arthur (Art), her sister Marjorie Miller, and her brothers, Forrest, Bernard and Joseph Faivre.

She took great joy and pride in her family and was always there to provide help and assistance. She was witty with a wonderful sense of humor--a strong woman who provided a marvelous role model for her family and others whose lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Eliseo Benitez
February 12, 2010

Eliseo Benitez, age 43, of LaValle, WI, formerly of Bosque Farms, NM, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010.

Eliseo was a cement finisher by trade and enjoyed teaching his son his skills. He enjoyed life, which included camping with his family, fishing and playing football with his son and barbequing with family and friends. He also enjoyed going for long drives, staying in hotels, swimming and sitting in the hot tubs.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Socorro Benitez in January 2010; and his grandparents, Evangeline and Santiago Silva of Pena, TX.

Eliseo is survived by his wife, Bonnie Benitez and son, Anthony Santiago Benitez of LaValle, WI; daughters Melinda Ketchum, and husband, Deon and future grandson, of Los Lumas, NM, and Stephanie Benitez and Eric Peralez and granddaughters, Vianey and Lailah and future granddaughter of Donna, TX. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Isaac Benitez and wife, Cynthia of Albuquerque, NM, Bertha Calderon and husband, Sergio, of Los Lunas, NM, Isachar Benitez and wife, Andrea of Los Lunas, NM, Isaias Benitez, and wife, Linda, of Albuquerque, NM, Isai Benitez of TX, Israel Benitez of Los Lunas, NM; father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Joan Schefske of LaValle, WI; along with many other family members including, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eliseo Benitez will be conducted at San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas, NM on Thursday, February 18, 2010.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Benitez, Isachar Benitez, Isaias Benitez, Sergio Calderon, Bryan Omsberg, and Bonifacio Silva. Honorary Pallbearers will be Anthony Benitez, Israel Benitez, Deon Ketchum, and Steve Wackerbarth.

James D. Murdock
February 11, 2010

James D. Murdock, age 74, of Reedsburg, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the University Hospital in Madison following a brief battle with cancer. He was born on April 22, 1935 in Wonewoc, WI, the son of Dewey and Maurine (White) Murdock. On July 24, 1954 he was united in marriage to Patricia Decot at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg. This marriage was blessed with four children. Jim was employed as a supervisor at Grede Foundries for 41 years and enjoyed the people he worked with. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and the trips to Texas in the winter. He also loved his Scottish Terriers, having had five of them. Jim enjoyed sitting in the backyard watching the birds, and in the spring, planting flowers. When he lived on the farm, he enjoyed farming. He also liked country music.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Bobby; his parents; three brothers, Jerry, Sam and Judson; sister, Rose; special uncle, Jud; and special friend, Sam Miller.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia of Reedsburg;

Michael D. Correll
January 29, 2010

Michael D. Correll, age 39 of Reedsburg, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010. He was born on May 2, 1970 in Madison, the loving son of Dennis and Kathryn Correll of Reedsburg. He graduated from Edgewood High School in Madison, and attended MATC-Madison with a certification as E.M.T. Mike helped his father build a home in LaValle from 1995-1996. The Ho-Chunk Nations in Lake Delton employed him for 14 years. Mike had a keen and loving compassion for his family and those he loved. He had a variety of interests and hobbies, and most of all a deep spiritual conviction. All who knew and loved him will solely miss Mike. We will especially miss his silly grin.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louise Wianecki, and Warren and Helen Correll; aunt Linda Wianecki; cousin Joseph Correll; and friend “Oreo”.

He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Kathryn;

E. Thomas Powers, Jr.
January 26, 2010

E. Thomas “Tom” Powers Jr., age 81, of Hillpoint, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. He was born on May 4, 1928 in Duluth, MN the son of Edmund Thomas, Sr. and Mary G. (Rakowsky) Powers. He was married to Corinne V. Dixon on June 18, 1955, in Racine, WI. This marriage was blessed with three children. He was an insurance agent in Brookfield, WI for 35 years and from 1987- 1993 he was an Insurance Consultant until he moved to rural Hillpoint in 1993. He enjoyed nature and being an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kasi Ilene Kettler; his brother, Richard M. Powers and his sister, Loretta Lynch.

He is survived by his wife, Corinne of Hillpoint;

Bernice A. Meyer
January 20, 2010

Bernice A. Meyer, age 93, of Reedsburg, formerly of Hillpoint, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Sauk County Health Care Center. She was born on October 28, 1916 in Hillpoint, WI the daughter of William and Selma (Lattenstein) Westphal. She was married to Alvin G. Meyer on November 4, 1934 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hillpoint. This marriage was blessed with three children. She played an accordion in the family band and sang at weddings with her brother. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Hillpoint.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin G. Meyer on October 20, 1984. A grandson, Jeffery Meyer; a brother, Raymond Westphal; a sister Arline Meyer and her parents.

She is survived by her children:

Ruth V. Judkins
January 19, 2010

Ruth Judkins, age 87, of Loganville, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Ruth was the third child of eleven born to Edward and Geneva (Schwartz) Goebel of Lafayette County, Wisconsin. Being the big sister, she helped to raise all the younger children. She was raised on a farm and learned the value of hard work. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1941, and graduated from cosmetology school in 1942. She married Robert Judkins September 14, 1944, and they were blessed with three children. She owned and operated the Fash-N-Aire Beaute Salon in Loganville for many years. Bob and Ruth enjoyed extensive travels over the years. She was a longtime member of the local Shamrock Club and in 1996 she was named Irish Rose of the Year.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim Judkins of Darlington; brothers, Raymond Goebel of Darlington, Joe Goebel of Lena, IL, and Robert Goebel of Darlington; sister, Margie Sperry of DeForest.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert “Bob” Judkins of Loganville;

Lucille Wodke
January 6, 2010

Lucille P. Wodke, age 89 of Cazenovia died on Wednesday, January 06, 2010 at Fairview Nursing Home in Mauston. She was born on February 6, 1920 in Sprague, West Virginia the daughter of Samuel and Edith (Spade) Wickline. She owned and operated the Bunker Hill Bar for over 35 years. She was happy on Bunker Hill as it reminded her of her home in West Virginia. She was a great cook and was famous for her meat loaf. She loved playing cards with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Wodke on May 16, 1998; her son Lacy Herfel; son-in-law, Raymond Deitelhoff; several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children: Bill (Clara) Herfel of Friendship

Violet Deitelhoff of Reedsburg
