Helen Raupp
October 24, 2008
Helen (Lumpp) Raupp, age 95, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Sauk County Health Care Center. Helen was the fourth of nine children, born to Frank and Gertrude (Krieman) Lumpp on December 4, 1912 in Niles, Illinois. She was known as “Tom” to her brothers and sisters. Mother loved to play games. If there was a baseball game in the yard, you’d find her pitching or pinch-hitting. Most often she and Dad had a Yahtzee or Dominos game going on at the kitchen table and you played along…like it or not! She spent many hours in her garden and flowerbeds, but hated pulling weeds. “Their blossoms are as pretty as any flower.” Later in life you’d find her walking with a hoe rather than a cane. One summer and fall, mother canned or “put up” 1,000 jars of garden produce. “We have a lot of mouths to feed.” Is what she said as she admired her labor of love! She collected rocks, shells and pinecones with which she created beautiful wreaths. Mother was a cancer survivor. She was a former member of the Ex-Dells Homemakers for many years, belonged to card clubs, and bowling leagues. She had great patience, understanding and love of children. Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Raupp on June 23, 1989. They were married on July 19, 1933, and enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Frankie and Johnny; three daughters-in-law, a son-in-law and six grandchildren.
Surviving are two sisters: Betty Engelhart and Gert Novak; a sister-in-law, Helen Lumpp, all of Illinois;

Timothy J. Steeb
August 31, 2008
Timothy Joseph Steeb, age 24, of Reedsburg, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2008, after a fifteen month patient struggle with a mass on his thalamus and brain stem, that doctors attribute to Adrenalleukodystrophy. It left him bed ridden and unable to use his left side, see, or talk.
He is known to have told his family, “All I have left is patience.” and he was very patient. He never complained and was always thankful for the help he received.
Tim was brilliant. He had insights and understandings at the age of three that would stagger most people. He wanted to further his education, but first he took time to have fun and enjoy life – ever the kid at heart, Tim enjoyed playing. He had a way of getting on the level of whomever he was with. He cherished the time he spent with his nieces and nephews and would often get right down on the ground to play with them, teaching them new skills and perfecting some old ones.
Tim also had his priorities straight. He was a man of strong morals, principle, and integrity, and strived to always live by them. Tim always protected the underdog and was a loyal and generous friend, brother, and son.

He was born on the family farm on October 2, 1917 in Valton, Woodland Township, the son of Dolph and Millie (Stowe) Mortimer. On August 15, 1940 he was united in marriage to Genevive R. Fisher. This marriage was blessed with two daughters. Pat proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines during World War II.
Pat began living his life to the fullest as a youth, traveling to Washington State to pick delicious apples, which became the only apples he would eat. Developing a love for animals, having a pony named Flossy recently his big yellow cat, Oaky. He had a love and respect of the outdoors, feeding and watching birds, growing fabulous floral gardens and his lawn. He became an avid sportsman, enjoying trout fishing and trips to Canada, Northern Wisconsin and those special fishing trips with nephews to the Gulf of Mexico; his trips to the mountains in Colorado staying in tents while Elk hunting, hunting duck, geese, pheasant and deer also became highlights of his life. But, most important to him was his love of his family, a true family man he played with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he loved to ‘cut a rug’ with his true love Gen and both were fabulous dancers having a fondness for big band music. He helped with many family projects and even moved the original family home from the farm to town where he completely remodeled it.

Following his father-in-laws death, he farmed the family farm for 12 years. His love of children led him to drive school bus for 20 years for the Reedsburg School District, which brought him great pride and joy. He was a rural substitute mail carrier, which later became full time for 31 years.
His community spirit was evident for his beloved Village of Ironton and the surrounding communities; being village president for the Village of Ironton for 32 years, president of the Ironton Cemetery board, one of the first EMT’s for the Cazenovia Ambulance Service; on the board of directors for the State Bank of Cazenovia for 33 years, and now an honorary board member. Pat was a 32nd degree Mason, Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, Past Patron of the Eastern Star and member of the Zor Shrine. Pat was a member and trustee of the United Methodist Church in Ironton. Marcella Connors
June 4, 2008
Marcella “Sal” Connors, age 86, of Reedsburg, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the Sauk County Health Care Center. She was born on April 27, 1922 in Richland County, WI, the daughter of James P. and Ellen “Nellie” (Neary) M. Connors. Sal worked with her dad for many years on the family farm. Outside was much more her forte than the household chores or cooking. She took great pride in telling stories about her youth, and being able to handle a team of horses better than either of her brothers. As her parents aged, and farming became difficult, the cattle were sold off and she went to work at the Woolen Mill in Reedsburg. She later worked at Badger Ordnance, for the Weston School District, and Pine Valley Manor.
She liked people, and particularly taking care of others. She was a champion of the underdog. If you were a child, down on your luck, or unloved and unwanted by anybody else, Sal would be your best friend, give you a place to stay, food to eat, and even buy your cigarettes. If you were a kid, she’d smooth things over with your folks, or even help you cover up your sins. Her biggest fault was her unquestioning generosity. She will be missed by all of us and forgotten by none.
Sal was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nellie; brothers, Michael and Martin; adopted son, Patrick; grandson, Steven and nephew, Michael Ferguson.
She is survived by:
Her daughter: Ellen Stittleburg of Reedsburg;
Sister: Mary “Mattie” Ferguson of Reedsburg;
Niece: Debra Ferguson of Cazenovia;
Grandchildren: Drago (Rita) Stittleburg of Cazenovia,
Amber (Todd) Brown of Hillsboro,
Pat Connors of Reedsburg,
Carla Sussek of Mauston;
Great-grandchildren: Connor, Macey, Mia, Shelby, Alex, Lauretta, Esther, Glendon, Leah, Emily, Amanda, Jonathon, Melinda, Ruth, Neil, Joey, Kevin, Tucker and Katie.
She is also survived by a large extended family, known as Grandma Sal to many.
Funeral services for Marcella “Sal” Connors will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Cazenovia Chapel in Cazenovia with Deacon Ron Pickar officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Westford Township. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 1:00 P.M. at the chapel.
