Donald Luetkens Obituary

Donald A. Luetkens, age 85, of Loganville, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Maplewood of Sauk City. Donald was born on January 20, 1933, in Westfield Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin, the son of the late Paul and Minnie (Schlieckau) Luetkens.  On December 5, 1998, Donald was united in marriage to Mary Farrell in St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain.

Donald graduated from Reedsburg High School. He grew up on the family farm in Loganville Wisconsin. He worked with his brother Ferdinand and aunt Lydia taking care of cows.

Donald enjoyed going to church, he was a member of St. John Church in Loganville, helping out with Orphan Grain Train, and he liked going to Luetken’s Family Reunions to catch up with relatives. He enjoyed spending time writing in greeting cards to people he knew. Donald would keep up with news going on where ever he was and could hold a conversation quite well.  In his later years, when living in a Nursing Home (Maplewood of Sauk Prairie), he enjoyed playing Bingo and Yahtzee.  A visit from relatives was a treat for him which he especially enjoyed.

Donald will be missed by his sisters, Anita Luetkens of Shorewood Wisconsin, Erma (Chris) Hill of Hope Valley South Australia, Elaine Stickler of San Diego, CA; Nieces; Lisa (Ben) Garbisch of Arpin Wisconsin, Theresa (Matthew) Hartley of Greenwith South Australia, Pam Stickler of California, Tammy Stickler of San-Diego California and Bonnie Stickler- of Arizona.

In addition to his wife Mary, Donald was preceded in death by a half-brother, Ferdinand Luetkens and his aunt, Lydia Luetkens.
