Eric Looye Obituary

Eric Scott Looye, 58, of LaValle, WI, formerly of Cary, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 28, 2019 in Madison after suffering a stroke. In keeping with his loving and generous spirit, his final gift was in giving his organs and tissues.

He was born the youngest of three children to Adrian Sr. (The Hague, Netherlands) and Ethel (Ekseth) (Davenport, NY) Looye on August 4, 1961 in Elmhurst, IL. He met the love of his life, Karen (Engelen) at Willow Creek Community Church, Barrington, IL and they were married on September 25, 1994.

He came to LaValle to live on the farm with his mom as a junior in high school. He loved the farm and was so happy to move his family up to live here. His dream was to learn all the trades to become an independent contractor and was always willing to teach others. He owned Nordic Construction Company. He could fix anything. He was a bold witness for Christ. We will always remember his welcoming personality, his sense of humor, storytelling and optimism. He loved being part of his extended family and was so proud of his three children.

He is survived by his wife, Karen of 25 years; his sons Scott (Lexi) and Kevin and his daughter Kelly; his brother Adrian (Julie) Looye of Downers Grove, IL, and sister Audrey Looye of Studio City, CA; his sisters-in-law Diane (Bob) Ford, Janet (Jeff) and Laura Engelen; brother in law Mark Engelen; mother-in-law Lorraine Engelen; aunt Penny Engelen. He had four nephews, Brian (Lori), Bradley( Lynn), Michael (Angela) Ford and JP Looye-Clark; two nieces, Melissa (Jon) Monge, Lisa Looye; along with nine great nieces and nephews, Caleb, Kennedy and Kathryn Monge, Camryn, Elliot, Logan, Nolan, Huck and Theo Ford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Eugene Engelen.
