Goldie Hackbarth Obituary

Goldie Hackbarth, age 94, of Marshall, WI/ Placentia, CA., formerly of Reedsburg, WI, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Center in Fitchburg, WI. following a long illness with cancer. She was born on March 7, 1916, in Athens, WI, the daughter of Gustav Pauck and Anna Theophilia (Gewiss) Pauck. On May 8, 1936, Goldie was united in marriage to Elmer Hackbarth. This marriage was blessed with six children. Goldie lived on a farm in her youth and after her marriage she moved to Sheboygan, WI and then to a farm in St. Nazianz, WI. From there she and Elmer moved to a farm in Rock Springs, WI where she lived until Elmer's death in 1959. A few years later Goldie moved to Orange County, CA where she lived for 30 years. Goldie spent the majority of her life as a professional cook in restaurants and nightclubs. She catered many weddings and was known for her rainbow jello. She is survived by her children, Elmer (Eleanor) Hackbarth of Twin Valley, MN Carol (Paul) Krueger of Waterloo, WI Gene (Lin) Hackbarth of Reedsburg, WI Dale Hackbarth of Yorba Lynda, CA, Joan Hackbarth of Marshall, WI; 16 Grandchildren, David (Isabel) Krueger, Rachel Krueger, Esther (Mark) Pratt, Sarah (William) Osborne, Rebecca (Jody) McDonough, Ruthann (John) Breitwisch, Donald Hackbarth, Ronald (Kathleen) Hackbarth, Donna (Henry) Grahm, Judy (Ken) Streich, Susan (Ken) Dostal, Mary (Sam) Kumar, Joseph (Tiffany) Hackbarth, James Hackbarth, Elizabeth (Chris)Quirk; 24 Great Grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; Brothers, Henry (Doris) Pauck of Schaumburg, IL; Arthur (Dorothy) Pauck of Bridgeman, MI; Several nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; daughter, Susanne; grandson, Douglas Hackbarth, daughters-in-law, Gloria, Lois and Martha; brothers, Alvin and Julius; sisters, Martha Bitto, Agusta Meetz and Hildegard Pauck. Funeral services for Goldie Hackbarth will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 25, 2010, in St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Marshall, WI with Rev. Mark Schoeneck officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday morning from 9:00-11:00 AM. A graveside service will take place in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Springs at 3:00 PM. The family requests memorials of remembrance in lieu of flowers. The Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg is assisting the family with the arrangements.
