John Nee, Sr. Obituary

John Anthony Nee Sr., age 88 of Richland Center, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Pine Valley Community Village. Johnny was born in Richland Center on May 31, 1930 to John Henry Nee and Mary Magdalena “Lena” Klos Nee. He grew up on the family farm along Highway 14 where he was introduced to farm work on the home farm and next door on the farm of his older cousin, John Henry “Harry J.” Nee. Both Harry J. and Johnny had lost their fathers at a young age.

Johnny worked in the dairy industry; after leaving the farm he worked for the Twin Bluffs Cheese Factory, and in 1966, he became employed at Gold Bond Ice Cream in Richland Center until they ceased operation in 1991. John loved sports.  He was a big fan of the Milwaukee Braves in the late 50’s.  Time stopped when the Green Bay Packers were on TV (he especially liked rooting for Bart Starr)! He also enjoyed watching boxing.  He liked a great game of Euchre and an occasional polka dance.

On June 7, 1952 Johnny married Florence Naomi Brandt of the Hillpoint area. They were the parents of seven children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Ruth Louis; and wife, Florence (Brandt) Nee on April 5, 2018; brothers and sisters: Tom N. Nee Sr., Bernard “Mick” Nee, Liz Adsit, Sue Gorman and Mary Turgasen.

John is survived by his children:

Karoline, Paula Ann and Faith Nee, all at home,

Grandchildren: Elizabeth Nee Flynn (Chris) of Chicago, John A. “Jack” Nee III of Madison, Cyndara “Dara” Foust of Richland Center, Katharine Nee of Minneapolis, Minnesota;
