John Spurgeon Obituary

John B. Spurgeon Jr., age 62 of Hillsboro, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Milestone Senior Living. He was born on August 28, 1956 in Madison, WI, the son of John B. Spurgeon Sr. and Linda (Winchel) Spurgeon Lewis. On May 26, 1976 he was married to Joy Richert, and on November 17, 1997 he was married to Carol Klingenberg. John served his country in the United States Marine Corp.

John worked as an auto mechanic throughout most of his career, then a number of years in the maintenance field.

He enjoyed riding his Harley. As a member of the VNV MC, he enjoyed working with his brothers, doing charity drives for fellow vets.  He took pride in cooking for family and friends.  The times he spent in the garage with his children and grandchildren, tinkering and educating on anything and everything will always be treasured.

John is survived by his mother Linda Lewis;

Children; Amy (Kenneth Jr.) Johnson of Mauston,

Brian (Rebecca) Spurgeon of Hillsboro,

Jessica (Shannon Drews) Spurgeon-Drews of Hillsboro;

Grandchildren; Hunter, Brenda, Myles, Thomas, Aubree and Brantley.

Brother Kerry Spurgeon.

Sisters; Vicki Mortimer

Kathy (Randy) Tyler

Vonda (Roger) Hainstock

Toni Spurgeon

In-laws; Imelda Spurgeon, Kathryn Spurgeon and Darlene Spurgeon.

He is further survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John B. Spurgeon Sr. and his brothers: Doyle Spurgeon, Charles “Buster” Spurgeon, and Randall Spurgeon.

Funeral services for John B. Spurgeon Jr. will be conducted at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Pastor Conrad Prell, Pastor of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Hillsboro officiating. Military rites will be held at the funeral home following the service.  Visitation will also be on Thursday, at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 6:00pm.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.

The Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
