Leon A. Statz

Leon A. Statz, age 57, of Loganville, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018, after a long fought battle with depression. He was born on December 11, 1960, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Victor and Rosemary (Barman) Statz. He was married on April 14, 1984, in Reedsburg to Brenda M. Farber. This marriage was blessed with three children. He and his family ran a dairy farm near Loganville and were proud of the Superior Quality Awards they received from Foremost Farms. Leon loved his family, the farm, and it brought him joy to give to others. He had a soft spot for animals. He enjoyed spur of the moment trips, traveling to his sister Diane’s place in Stoughton and to Door County. Leon loved hosting 10 years of Christmas pizza parties for neighbors and friends. He was a member of the Badger Steam and Gas Club, a card club, and a member of St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church in Loganville.  Harley’s, red tractors and Chevy trucks brought him great joy.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; cousin, Dale Statz; and close friends, Leon Hausner, Bill Oetzman and Tom Schlieckau.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda;

Children: Sarah (Christian) Schartner of Prairie du Sac, Thomas (Katie) Statz of Loganville, and Ethan (Rebecca) Statz of Loganville; grandson, Clayton and a granddaughter on the way.
He is further survived by his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Arlene Farber of LaValle; brothers and sisters: Gordon (Terry) Statz of Michigan, Diane Statz of Stoughton, Daniel (Jill) Statz of Reedsburg, Linda (D.) Larsen of Madison, Steve (Jodi) Statz of Rock Springs, Roger (Jody) Statz of Minnesota, and Karen (Jeff) Spence of Sussex;

Along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Leon Statz will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 11, 2018 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Loganville with Pastor Donald Glanzer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery, Loganville. There will be a visitation on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, and on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
