Marlene Laechelt Obituary

Marlene Laverne (Rudy) Laechelt, 98, of Reedsburg, passed away on May 14, 2019. She was born September 7, 1920, in the Town of Woodland, Sauk County, Wisconsin to Arthur W. and Ethel M. (Doering) Rudy. Marlene was married to August F. Laechelt on May 30, 1940. They lived in Butler, Wisconsin until 1967, when they moved to rural LaValle to become full-time beekeepers.

Marlene was a member of the LaValle United Methodist Church, past member of the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association and past member of the American Beekeeping Federation.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Lee (Eyvon) of Helena, Alabama, one grandson, Billy (Tara) of Shoal Creek, Alabama, two great grandchildren, Caleb and Brinley, one sister, Edith (Virgil) Hartje, of rural LaValle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, her sister, Doris (John) Gates, and her brother, Norbert (Jennie) Rudy.

A memorial service honoring Marlene Laechelt will be conducted at 5:30 PM on Monday, May 20, 2019, at the Advent Christian Church, LaValle, with Pastor Richard Johnson officiating.  A visitation will be held on Monday from 4:30 PM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaValle. In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to the Taunton Family Children’s Home, an organization that Marlene and Augie spent many happy days assisting in their mission to help children in need.
