Michael F. Nachreiner

Michael F. Nachreiner, age 75, of LaValle, passed away peacefully at home with family on Friday, November 8, 2019. He was born on June 8, 1944, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Fredrick “Fritz” M. and Lucile G. (Uptgraw) Nachreiner.  Mike graduated from St. Luke’s Catholic School in Plain before joining the National Guard where he served in the 2nd and 3rd Armored Cavalry as a Sergeant. After completing his guard duties in 1970, Mike went on to work as a mason for a few years before working for an insurance company that required him to travel.  Upon traveling to Racine he ended up at BeBee’s Restaurant where he met Karen. They started dating and quickly fell in love. On November 15, 1969, Mike was united in marriage to Karen L. Brossman. Following marriage, Mike worked for American Motors for a period of time before Mike and Karen began following their dreams and went into the restaurant business. They owned and operated Karen’s Kountry Kitchen for many years in Racine before moving to LaValle in 1990.  Karen preceded him in death on June 21, 1999.  Mike was also preceded in death by his parents Fritz and Lucile Nachreiner; and nephew, Scott Wunnicke.

Mike’s favorite past time was spent deer hunting, fishing, and gardening. Nothing pleased him more than to see the smile on his wife, kids and grandchildren’s faces when they were able to catch fish together or bag a nice deer at hunting season. He also enjoyed having his kids and grandkids over every Sunday for cookouts and watching the Packer game.

Michael is survived by his children, Jeffery L. Davitz, Jodi (Greg) Bankenbush, Jill Hein and Jackie (William) Swope; grandchildren, Nicholas (Sarah) Celeste, Jay Bankenbush, Abby Bankenbush, Joshua Hein, Leah Hein, BreAnna Swope, Justin Swope, Gracie Davitz, Dustin (Alyssa) Davitz; great-grandchildren, Maximus, Fisher, Bowdyn Celeste, Aubrianna Bankenbush, Jenesmea Hein, Millie and Weston Davitz; sisters and brothers, Kathleen (William) Wunnicke, Judith Hustig, Steven (Rhonda) Nachreiner and Ronald (Nancy) Nachreiner; along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
