Randy Dwight Rabine, age 66, of Reedsburg, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Casa de Oakes. He was born on November 19, 1952, in Dodgeville, WI, the son of Freeman D. and Virginia M. (Moran) Rabine. Randy loved to play guitar and sing; often writing his own songs and poems. He was known as “Reedsburg’s Johnny Cash”. Randy played and sang at many venues including: area nursing homes, The Vault, family reunions, Maggie Mae’s Restaurant, the Hee Haw Show in Wonewoc and Jamboree with Buddy Daugs, not to forget his family band, “Broken Spur”, in his younger days. Most recently, he performed regularly at Casa de Oakes. He still has his first electric guitar, “Old Blue. Randy was an avid walker and enjoyed talking with people along the way. At Christmas, Randy dressed as Santa Claus and would visit others. He enjoyed nature, especially watching eagles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Freeman; brother-in-law, David Loney, and special great-aunt, Cassie Menchoff.
Randy is survived by his mother, Virginia of Reedsburg; brothers, David (Bea) Rabine of Rock Springs, Dale (Sandy) Rabine of Baraboo and his sister, Jean Loney of Florida; nieces and nephews, Michelle Rabine, Tammy Powers, Lacey Rabine, Cody Rabine and Brooke Loney; great-nieces and nephew, Alyssa Decorah, Jackson Kolpin and Kaidance Kolpin; aunt, Judy (Michael) Witt of Reedsburg; uncles, John (Carol) Moran, and Marshall Rabine; cousins along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Randy Rabine will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Pastor Christian Ronald officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service.
