Rita K. Rufenacht, age 77, of Loganville, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 20, 2019. She was born on January 29, 1942, the daughter of John and Doris (Banker) King. Rita was a graduate of Weston High School. On July 5, 1991, Rita was united in marriage to Gerald G. Rufenacht. Together they enjoyed 29 years.
Rita was employed at the Reedsburg Hospital for a few years before working at the Sauk County Health Care Center in dietary for 18 years. Following retirement from the Health Care Center, Rita went back to work for a few years at Head Start in Reedsburg. She was an avid gardener and loved the hummingbirds that enjoyed her flowers also. She collected hummingbird figurines, enjoyed crocheting and craft work. She often sold her crocheted creations which have become cherished keepsakes to her family and friends.
Rita is survived by her husband, Gerald of Loganville; children, Teresa (Brian) Elza Fry Hoover of Tacoma, WA, John (Regina) Elza of Tacoma, WA, Tanya (Mark) Ernstmeyer of Reedsburg, step-children, Gerald Jr. (Nancy) Rufenacht of Reedsburg, Rodney (Kelli) Rufenacht of Reedsburg, Daniel (Lori) Rufenacht of LaValle, Diana Burt of Napersville, IL;
Grandchildren, Bryan (Jan) Fry, Sean Elza and fiance’, Erin Freeman, Zach (Jessica) Ernstmeyer, Mike (Kayla) Ernstmeyer, Harrison Ernstmeyer; step-grandchildren, Amy Powers (Tim Smith), Stacie (Allen) Ray, Janelle (Dennis) Batt, Holly Rufenacht (Kris Farber), Daniel Rufenacht, Alexandra Burt, Kelsi and Brady Rufenacht;
Great-granchildren, Brynn and Deklin Fry, Harper Ryan Elza, Kinley Ernstmeyer; step- great-grandchildren, Austin and Bailey Powers, Jaelyn and Blake Ray, Mason Higgins;
Brother, Scott (Sandy) King of Cazenovia; and sister, Susan (Randy) Powell of Muscoda; several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Clara (Bill) Herfel.
Funeral services for Rita K. Rufenacht will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 26, 2019, at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Private family burial will follow. Memorials of remembrance may be made to a breast or uterine cancer foundation of choice.
