Robert J. Straka, age 87, of Reedsburg, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018. He was born on August 18, 1931 in Eden Township, Grant County, Wisconsin, the son of John J. and Julia M. (Winter) Straka. On May 29, 1957 he was united in marriage to Yvonne M. Bauer. This marriage was blessed with five children. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed and after he retired he was employed in construction and then employed at various lumber mills. Robert also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Yvonne on July 12, 2016; son, Michael; brothers Bernard and Leo (Helen); and brothers-in-law: Roscoe, LeRoy, Tom, Gene and Tom.
He is survived by his children: Jan (Ron) Krueger of Reedsburg, Jeanette (John) Fraser of Missouri, Deanna Causey of Utah, Laurie (Jim) Myers of Reedsburg;
Grandchildren: Danielle, Kristin, Craig (Beth) and Mark;
Sisters: Bernadine Cook of Montfort, Dorothy Ausse of Racine, Elizabeth Dolan of Dodgeville, Delores Brennan of Dodgeville, and Beatrice Palzkill of Mineral Point; along with several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Robert J. Straka will be conducted at 11:30 AM Monday, January 7, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg with Father Jared Holzhuter officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to Casa de Oaks, Bindl Drive; Sacred Heart or Our House on 17th Court.
