Andrew “Pete” Hess 76, went to heaven on Monday, June 14, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born at the family farm in Keysville, WI on March 15, 1945 to William and Lorraine (Clark) Hess. He grew up on the farm and later volunteered to serve his country as an Army PFC in Vietnam. After his service he moved to Waukesha where he met the love of his life Sharon (Rego) Hess. They were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Waukesha on April 1st, 1967. They moved out to the country and raised 4 children on dairy farms in Plain and Loganville areas. Pete retired from farming after 30 years and began his second 20 year career at Saputo cheese factory. Pete was a proud veteran and a founding member of VFW post 3434 in Hillpoint, WI, a member of the Cazenovia American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and an active member of his parish at St. Patrick’s Church of Loreto. In his final retirement, he enjoyed restoring antique tractors, making wine, and visiting with family.
He is survived by his wife Sharon (Rego) Hess, brothers Arthur, Allen (Mary), and Arland (Mary) Hess and sister Anna Marie Anderson; children Tony (Carol) Hess, Andy (Becky) Hess, Steve (Linda) Hess, and Sara (Keith) Bohl, grandchildren Ryan, Kyra, Leah, Noah, Aislyn, Kylan, Josalyn, Kasyn, and Kathryn. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Lorraine (Clark) Hess, Uncle Carl and Trace and Merlin Wilcox, brothers Adam (Janice) and Albert: sisters Agnes (Clarence) McCluskey and Alva (Thomas) Roessler, special nephew Kevin McCluskey and many more relatives and friends.
Thank you to the Columbia County Health Care Center, Greenway Manor, and Agrace Hospice for helping him navigate his final struggles with Parkinson’s, cancer, and heart disease. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved a great BS story, a cold beer, a good rare prime rib and arguing with his robot girlfriend Alexa.
