Anna Maraszek, age 92, of Loganville, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 22, 2023. Anna was born on February 28, 1931 in Schwandorf, Germany, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Graf) Wiesner. On March 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph Maraszek.
Anna and Joseph departed Germany on Christmas day in 1951. They sailed to the United States with two children and eventually added two more. This transition to life in America was a difficult one and Anna cried for the loved ones she left behind. Eventually, she embraced her new home and became a naturalized citizen on January 17, 1961. Being an American citizen was an immense source of pride and patriotism for her.
Anna was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg, and a member of the former Elder Ridge Homemaker’s Club. She loved to bake, enjoyed knitting, gardening, and working on the family farm. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with all her children and grandchildren. Family meant everything and she was a devoted mother and friend to all.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph on July 9, 2005.
She is survived by her children, Josef (Susan) Maraszek of Baraboo, Sophia (Arlen) White of Arena, Helga (Patrick) Imhoff of Marshfield, and Lisa (Patrick) Alexander of Cleveland, OH; eight grandchildren, Tonya (Darren) Blackford of Ogden, UT, Tara (Brian) Jauch of Baraboo, Angela (Mitch) Childs of Wisconsin Dells, Willie (Yvonne) Walton of Wausau, Joseph (Jenny) Imhoff of Milwaukee, WI, Michael (April) Imhoff of New Fairfield, CT, Mackenzie Alexander (fiancé Giles Crelly-Byers) of Denver, CO, and Brynn (Daniel) Padilla of Indianapolis, IN; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
