Arline “Lindy” Prothero, age 94, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. She was born on June 21, 1927 in Reedsburg, the daughter of Walter and Florence (Richert) Farber. On April 19, 1946, Lindy was married to Don Prothero in Illinois while Don was serving in the Navy. This marriage was blessed with one son, Michael, who was killed in the Vietnam War on June 19, 1968, making Lindy a Gold Star Mother.
Upon Lindy’s retirement after 25 years at Hankscraft/Gerber, she and her husband Don became “snowbirds”. They enjoyed traveling during the winter months to the warmer climates of the southern states where they would meet new friends every year, and then share their stories with those of us in the family and enjoyed their many photos. While home, she enjoyed taking short flights with Don to Lake Geneva for Sunday brunch, and short camping trips on most weekends to state park campgrounds.
She would help out with the breakfast flights in Reedsburg, and enjoyed family get-togethers during the holidays, but really didn’t need a reason for having fun.
Lindy was preceded in death by her husband, Don; son, Michael; her parents; and a sister, Helen (Tom) Delany.
She is survived by two nieces, Dale Snyder and Gail Clark (Michael); along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Arline “Lindy” will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Chaplain Daniel Farber officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be made in St. John Cemetery in Reedsburg.
