Ashlee E. Zastrow Obituary

Ashlee E. Zastrow, age 38, of Baraboo, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at her home. She was born on September 8, 1987, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Sheryl “Shelly” (Scott) Schanke.

Ashlee grew up in Reedsburg, attended Sacred Heart School, and was a 2005 graduate of Reedsburg Area High School. She furthered her education by receiving her Bachelor of Science with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 2010. She began her career as a Family and Consumer Science Teacher in Dodgeville for six years. She received the Wisconsin Family Consumer Educators’ New Professional Award in 2011, highlighting the immense impact she had on each student she taught.

Ashlee felt so inspired to always be of service to help others, so much that she decided she had a further calling and pursued her Master of Science with a major of Professional Counseling from Concordia University in Mequon, WI. She completed her degree in 2016 and began her true passion as a psychotherapist-counselor. She worked at various organizations within Sauk and Juneau counties throughout her career. Ashlee put her whole heart into her work and always put others ahead of herself. She had empathy for the disadvantaged and had a true gift for connecting with her clients. Everyone who has crossed Ashlee’s path was blessed to have known her.

On June 1, 2019, she was united in marriage to Eric L. Zastrow in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Eric was the love of her life and there was no one that could have been more supportive of Ashlee throughout the years. Ashlee and Eric resided in Baraboo with their fur-baby, Mylee.

Ashlee loved to spend time with family, finding new restaurants and being a food connoisseur, and she particularly loved holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most of all though, Ashlee loved her nephews, Myles and Brody. No matter who she was talking to, she always made sure to make it known that those boys were the absolute light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bob and Alice Scott; paternal grandparents, LeRoy and Edna Schanke; grandparents-in-law, Armond and Elaine Zastrow.

Ashlee is survived by her husband, Eric of Baraboo; parents, John and Shelly Schanke of Reedsburg; mother and father-in-law, Gary and Liesa Zastrow of Pardeeville; sister, Whitnee (Jason) Noble of Reedsburg and their sons, Myles and Brody Noble; brother, Jonathan Schanke (Amy Fuller) of Reedsburg; brother-in-law, Shea Zastrow of South Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Emilee (Roy) Montiel of Madison; grandparents-in-law, Robert and Nancy Teeter of Jefferson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
