Barbara L Dietz Novy Maeglin, age 84, of Valton, passed away on December 4, 2025, following a courageous battle with lymphoma cancer. She was born on March 28, 1941, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin to Lyle C Dietz and Ilis M. (Hendricks) Dietz.
On March 19, 1961, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Alan C. Novy who preceded her in death in 2004 following his own cancer battle. They lived in the Wonewoc/Valton area most of their married life. Barbie was a helpful farmer’s wife for the duration of her marriage to Alan. She was also employed at Lands’ End for several years.
Barbie will be fondly remembered as a kind, caring, thoughtful lady who intensely loved Alan, her children and grandchildren. She remained very involved in their lives even caring for her great grandchildren.
Barbie was an avid gardener who enjoyed working in her vegetable gardens and beautiful flower gardens. Barbie enjoyed sewing, completing many garments and quilts. She went to the gym three days a week and continued to go to gym up until a couple months before her passing. Barbie’s faith and church were extremely important to her; volunteering her talents at her church for the benefit of others including acting as treasurer at her church, and working on many quilt projects for donation to benefit others. She also volunteered her time and talents to the Valton Cemetery Association board for 40+ years acting as secretary/treasurer.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Alan C Novy; her parents, Lyle and Ilis Dietz; her mother-in law, Lucy Roehrs; father-in-law, Carl Novy; and brother-in-law, Eugene Poziwilko.
She is survived by her children Tamra Stieve of Mauston; Trina Novy Miller (Brian Miller) of Reedsburg; Teresa (Tracy) Schulte (Richard) of Hill Point; Trudy Ellett (Chad) of Reedsburg; Timothy Novy (Jillian) of Wonewoc; and 13 grandchildren: Jeremy, Jesse, Heather, Joshua, Joel, Justin, Thomas, Tyson, Tianna, Spencer, Brady, Danielle and Chase; and 10 great-grandchildren: Stephany, Wyatt, JayLynn, Derek, Neha, Frederick, Grayson, Joelle, Vienna and Archer. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Poziwolko of Benton Harbor, MI; her niece Jody; and nephews Terry and Michael and their families.
The family is grateful to Trina and Brian for their attentive care and support of Barbie in the last two years, and for caring for Barbie in the last months of her life at their home.
Per Barbie’s request a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Valton Cemetery Association.
