Beverly Sarnow Obituary

Beverly Jean Sarnow, age 87, of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, passed away, and was called to Heaven quietly and peacefully, early Tuesday morning, February 9, 2021, at 12:50 a.m. at Casa de Oakes Assisted Living/Memory Care Center.  Bev (Schick) Sarnow was born June 17, 1933 in Marshfield, Wisconsin.  After spending her early childhood years in Marshfield, she and her family moved to Milwaukee.  Bev graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee.  She worked and had lots of fun working summers at St. Germaine's Resort.  She attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for one year hoping to pursue a degree as a kindergarten teacher.  She married Donald Sarnow on June 26, 1954, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, was married for 66 years, and remained a devout Catholic throughout her life.  Together, they owned and operated the Rainbow Motel in Wisconsin Dells from 1969-1980, which consisted of 35 units/cabins.  While her family was the love of her life, her second love was operating the motel, because she loved to work and meet people, and made many life-long friends.  Some of her repeat guests were considered extended family; some relationships dated back to more than 40 years.  She also formed close friendships with fellow motel owners.  Following the sale of the motel, Bev worked as the manager of the housekeeping department at the Holiday Inn in the Dells.

Beverly also loved the simple things in life...gardening, playing cards, bowling, crossword puzzles, and attending the Fireside Theater in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin with special friends.  Her many passions included cooking, baking, reading until the early morning hours to finish a good book, and their precious shih-tzu Koko, her "baby boy" that she cared for and loved so much for 16 years.  She was the "rock" of her family, and was known for her very social personality, wonderful sense of humor, and kind and generous heart.  She felt so blessed to have lived a long enough life to enjoy her family.  She was a loving wife, amazing mom, grandma, great-grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is the beloved mother to her daughter Lynn (Mike) Fekete, and son Kevin Sarnow; grandsons Ryan (Rebecca) Fekete, and Nathan (Caitlyn) Fekete; granddaughter Erin (John ) Schad; great-grandchildren Ava Lynn and Jackson Schad, Myles, Leo, and Norah Fekete, and Clark Fekete; along with nieces, nephews, and friends.

Beverly is preceded in death by her husband Donald in August of 2020, her brothers Joe (Gerry) Schick, William (Ellen) Schick, and her parents George Schick and Lucine (Sigel) Schick.

A special thank you to the staff at Casa de Oakes Assistant Living/Memory Care Center in Reedsburg, Wisconsin.

A "Celebration of Life" gathering is being planned for both Bev and Don, June 17, 2021 from 4-7 pm at the Voyageur Inn in Reedsburg.  Burial for Bev, and Don with military rights, to follow on June 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah, Wisconsin.
