Bonnie L. Small, age 76, of Ironton/La Valle, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Monday, March 24, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Bonnie was born March 8, 1950, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, to parents Rudolph Gruenert and Elva Warn. She married the love of her life, Lester LaVerne Small, on August 20, 1966. The two met through a mutual friend and shared 59 wonderful years together.

Bonnie spent much of her life working in hospitality and retail. She was a familiar and friendly face to many in the community during her 20 years working at Kwik Trip. She took great pride in her work and enjoyed visiting with the locals who came in daily.

In her free time, Bonnie loved tending to the beautiful pink roses she grew, watching the Game Show Network, working on puzzles, and most of all spending cherished time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Rudolph and Elva Gruenert; three brothers, James Gruenert, Roger Gruenert, and Fredrick Gruenert; three sisters, Eileen Stewart, Louise Klang, and Lola Giebel; and daughter and son-in-law, Bonnel (Michael) Johnson.

Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband, Lester LaVerne Small; her children, Bonnita Small of La Valle, Matthew (Marissa) Small of Reedsburg, and Darrel (Tracey) Small of Reedsburg. She is also survived by her sister, Rita Zagroba; brothers, Richard (Jean) Gruenert, and Michael (Diana) Gruenert; and sister-in-law, LaVonne Gruenert.

She will be deeply missed by her many grandchildren: Zane, Kern, Yuri, and Xana Small; Robert Ehrenberger; Ashley Schoonover; Jasmine Sullivan; Samantha Schoonover; and Brittany Erenatau; great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with service starting at 1:00 p.m. Chaplain Mike Amberg will be the officiant. Burial will follow at the Resting Green Cemetery in Ironton, WI.
