Carol A. Schmitt

Carol A. Schmitt, age 85, of Reedsburg, formerly of Cazenovia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on June 25, 1937 in Richland Center, the daughter of George and Cecelia (Hutter) Niemann. On February 8, 1974, she was united in marriage to Richard Schmitt. They were blessed with two children. Carol worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Sauk County Health Care Center for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Edith (Edward) Lock, Donald Niemann, and Alice (Don) Manville.

Carol is survived by her children, Christopher Schmitt and Jennifer Olson; her grandchildren, Landen, Taylor and Payton Olson. Along with Joseph (Maliheh Nily) Deschner, and their son Adrian; sister-in-law, Ruth Niemann; and many nieces and nephews. There are also many other kids that mom and dad raised over the years, and they had more than enough love for all of them.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carol will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Cazenovia. Father Nathan Thainase, will be the officiant. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Cazenovia Chapel, and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
