Carole Jean Trebes

Carole Jean Trebes, 76, passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2022 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI, surrounded by family.

Carole was strong and tenacious. She suffered multiple medical conditions for many years and fought the good fight right up until her last breath. 

Carole was born in the village of Palatine of Cook County, IL on October 17, 1945 to Joseph and Doris (Koehler) Fischer.  She attended Palatine High School in Palatine, IL. She married James (Jim) E. Gibson soon after high school and they started their family welcoming James (Jim) in 1964 and Karen in 1966.  In addition to raising their family, they kept busy raising horses and competing in various horse competitions throughout Illinois.

Carole loved being in the country and surrounding herself with dogs, horses, and many other farm animals. She enjoyed the craft of needlepoint and crochet.  She worked hard to provide for her family working many jobs throughout her life.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always wanting the best for her children and grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments.  After Carole’s divorce from Jim, she married Don Trebes and they resided in Harvard, IL.  He passed away in 2009.  Carole spent the last years of her life in Reedsburg, WI with her daughter, Karen and grandchildren, Dorian, Deidra, and Deanna.  

Survivors include:  Her son, Dr. James Gibson (Kathy) of Green Bay, WI, and their children, Lindsay (Brad) Van Hemelryk, Jamie Gibson, Emily Gibson, and great grandson, James Van Hemelryk.  Her daughter, Karen Gibson (Todd) of Reedsburg, WI, and her children, Dorian Gibson (Kayla), Deidra (Dylan) Allen, Deanna Gibson, and Great grandson, Robert James (RJ) Allen, all of Reedsburg.

A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 9th, 2022 at 2 pm at Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, WI. Hospice Chaplain Mike Amberg will officiate.  Visitation will also be on Thursday, at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
