Christine Elizabeth (Wrinkle) Oelke went to her heavenly home peacefully and painlessly, in the early morning of Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born and raised in Pontiac, Michigan, then resided in the Baraboo, Wisconsin area for over thirty years, having joined her aunt and family there. She faced her recent health challenges with a grace, positivity, and gratitude that many do not exhibit in an entire lifetime.
Chris will be forever loved and missed by her husband Douglas Oelke, her mother Anita Louise Wrinkle, her three living siblings (of which she was the oldest), many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will surely be missed by her many “fur babies” whom were her pampered companions. Chris had special friends who had become family to her; the children of some who knew her as “Nana.” She loved everyone in her life devotedly and was proud of and quick to brag about them. She had a connection and love for all children and babies, and willingly cared for and sat with them, showing an uncanny talent for quieting babies. Her generosity was endless to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Chris was a fantastic cook and baker and served many meals to family and large gatherings of people. She enjoyed music and concert going, spending time with those she loved, and was both fun loving and a hard worker.
Chris had a successful career as a manager of people in many arenas, with a work ethic that enjoyed developing the same skills in others, and had a desire to go above and beyond for the sake of her co-workers and employers. No matter what her personal circumstances were, she was a woman who overcame challenges with a determined mind and joyful heart. Chris always had a smile to share, a hug to offer, or a gift to give. She served God and people with a willingness to help however and whomever she could, and she stayed strong in her faith to God and confident of her salvation through Jesus until the end. May we too turn our hearts to Jesus for comfort at this time, look back on her life for the good she brought to the world, and embrace that same spirit and faith in remembrance of her.
Chris’ desire was for her ashes to be buried at the Greenwood Cemetery in Reedsburg, where in lieu of a funeral her family will gather for a small, private service. If you wish to share your condolences, we invite you to reach out to her husband Doug or her to extended family directly.
