Cindy Bartels, age 63, passed unexpectedly at her home on February 24, 2025. Cindy was born on November 25, 1961 to Paul R. Bartels and Maryon J. (Irwin) Bartels. She attended Prescott schools, and graduated from Riverdale High School, class of 1980. She went on to achieve her bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

She spent her career working in IT as a Scrub Master and Agile Coach as a project manager. Cindy was the definition of a free spirit, a world traveler, and champion of all animals homeless and in need. Her love for her nieces and nephews, as well as her fur babies, was endless. A proud and doting aunt, she never missed a chance to tell them how very proud she was of them or shower them with love. Early onset macular degeneration and other health issues slowed her down, but never hampered her fiercely independent spirit and loving nature. The last year of her life was enriched by living with her niece Stephanie, her great niece Harper, and her nephews Rowan and Harrison. They spent their time together baking, going on adventures to some of her favorite spots in Spring Green and Madison, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. A good life is not defined by awards, fame, or wealth. In the end when it is our time, our most valued asset is the love we gave and the people whose lives we touched. Our aunt and sister Cindy lived an amazing life, and left an incredible legacy to the people and animals she shared life with. May she rest in God's glory.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother and father, and is survived by her siblings: Dave (Jean) Bartels, Mike (Pam) Bartels, Jodee Bartels, Debra Bartels, and Bruce (Tara) Bartels. She is also survived by a large crew of nieces and nephews who she was all so proud of and loved with all of her heart. At this time, we are asking any donations be made to area animal rescues in her honor. Her family will be planning a Celebration of Life for her that will be shared at a later date.
