Clarence M. Fowell

Clarence M. Fowell, age 81, of Mauston, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 11, 2023. He was born on October 7, 1941 in Richland County, Wisconsin, the son of Ronald and Clara (Luttig) Fowell. Clarence was a 1959 graduate of Ithaca High School. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Airforce and was an aviation mechanic and electronics technician. He re-enlisted in the Navy and served for 20 years until his retirement. On July 7, 1995 he was united in marriage to Karen S. (Phillips) Even in South Dakota at the Laura Ingalls Homestead. Clarence loved hunting, classic cars, and was an avid football fan. He was very health conscious who kept very fit and active, and was a considerate and kind-hearted person.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald “Shorty” and Clara Fowell.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Bryan Cook, Eric (Gretchen) Fowell, Lorena Swanson (John), Kenda Fowell Acord, and Nathan (Sabrina) Fowell; mother of the children, Doris Carlson; step-children, Rita (Jim) Hyzer, Randall (Darci) Even, Tom (Kristine) Even, and Peter Even (Betsy); 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Hillman (Cindy) Fowell, Donald (Patti) Fowell, and Martin (Esther) Fowell; sisters and brother-in-law, Marietta Gruber, Marion (Tom) Duren, and Lilas Rabine; along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Clarence Fowell will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Military rites will be held following the service at the funeral home. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.

Visitation in Montana will be held on Thursday March 23, 2023, from 10:00 am until 12 noon at O'Connor Funeral Home 2425 8th Ave N Great Falls, MT 59401.  Burial will also be on Thursday at 1:00 pm with Marine Corp. League Detachment 688 at the Sand Coulee Cemetery in Sand Coulee.
