Daniel D. Stolte Obituary

Daniel D. Stolte, age 70, of Loganville, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on February 6, 1956, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Ervin and Sylvia (Brunkow) Stolte.

Dan was raised on the family farm in rural Loganville and graduated from Weston High School in 1974. Dan carried his rural values with him throughout his life.  He spent many years working as a butter maker with Foremost Farms, a craft he took immense pride in, among many other endeavors that he encountered in his earlier years.

On December 23, 2005, Dan married Shari Cafferty at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Loganville. Dan had a deep appreciation for his family and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and close friends. Together they were active in growing a garden, participated in the Hill and Valley Farm Tour where they sold spaghetti sauce, salsa and maple syrup from ingredients grown on the farm. He loved exploring the woods and creating memories on the farm.

In his quieter moments, Dan enjoyed watching American Pickers, drinking coffee on the porch while bird watching, tending to his plants in his greenhouse and garden, as well as having meaningful conversations. He liked searching for antiques, especially stoneware, bean pots and old signage, and was also known to attend a few auctions. Dan never met a stranger that he couldn’t spark a conversation with and had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he encountered.

While at Weston High School Dan enjoyed playing football and basketball. He served as a member of the Weston School Board, was involved with the Sauk County Historical Society, and formerly volunteered with the Hillpoint Fire Department.  He was also a member of St. Peter’s Ev Lutheran Church in Loganville his entire life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Dylan Stolte.

Dan is survived by his wife, Shari Stolte; children: Ryan (Sara) Stolte, Kim Slama, Josh Stolte (Lexi Stendalen), Jamie Cattle (Myles West), Michael Cattle (Krystle Ernstmeyer), Kari (Cody) Bell; grandchildren: Victoria and Tyler Slama, Kian and Rhys Stolte, Kylie Stolte, Liam, Anthony and Harriet Cattle; brothers: Carl Stolte and Steve (Michelle) Stolte; several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.
