Daniel G. Spencer, 45, of rural Cazenovia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 5, 2022. He was born on September 15, 1976, the son of Starr L. (White) Spencer and John B. Spencer.
On August 31, 2002, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline J. Donovan. Dan and Jackie made their home in the country in Willow Township. Dan loved their farm. He spent much of his free time in his shed inventing and fixing things. He was a master craftsman with a wide range of skills and was a wizard with gadgets, gears and gizmos. People often brought hopelessly broken things to Dan. Both kind and clever, he would either fix them or invent a contraption that could.
Dan was a self-made carpenter and determined worker. He worked with various builders and built many homes in the Reedsburg area, all of which stand tall and sturdy because of Dan’s devotion to his craft.
His ingenuity with all things mechanical also had an artful flair, as he fashioned metal into beguiling sculptures. A highlight of family cookouts was Dan using his deviser-of-things skills to piece together home-style carnival-like rides for kids, one of the many reasons he was the favorite uncle to all his beloved nieces and nephews.
Dan was a deep thinker, and searcher of truth, a history buff, gun aficionado and aviation enthusiast. He was also a passionate father figure to Anna and Jordan. Dan was truly a joy for family and friends to be around – witty, smart, and never dull – everyone felt so lucky to be with him.
Dan is survived by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie”; beloved dog, Seven; mother, Starr Spencer; father, John (Jan) Spencer; mother and father-in-law, Joseph and Gay Donovan; brother and sisters, Ben (Rose) Spencer, Jenny Spencer, and Katie (Grant) Gilliam; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vickie Donovan, Joey Donovan, Scott (Sheri) Donovan, Steve (Becky) Donovan, Jason (Jodi) Donovan, Tim (Carlene) Donovan, Dale (Samantha) Donovan, Jennifer Storkson, Tommy Donovan (Jen), Stephanie (Chris) Mueller, and Lucky (Brandon) Fowell; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews along with other relatives and special friends too numerous to list.
He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Timothy, Shawn and Jeremiah.
