Mavis “Darlene” Byers, age 94, of Beloit, WI, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021. She was born on September 17, 1926 in Richland County, WI, the daughter of Clifford and Letha (Nicholson) Leatherberry. On January 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to LaVern Byers. This marriage was blessed with six children. Darlene was a faithful woman whose family was her world. She made the best homemade noodles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband LaVern on February 23, 1989; grandson, Matthew James Byers ; great-granddaughter, Jessica Hodgeman; son-in-law, Bill Hodgeman; two sisters, Evelyn Miller, Lois Knapp, and brother Bernal Leatherberry; as well as brothers-in-law Bob Miller, Bill Knapp; and sister-in-law, Caroline Leatherberry.
Darlene is survived by her children: Roger (Patty) Byers of Whitewood, SD, Mary (Dean) Duddeck of Beloit, WI, Rodney (Susie) Byers of Oregon, WI, Jeffrey (Theresa) Byers of Reedsburg, Kevin Byers of Lafarge, WI, and Mavis Byers of Jenison, MI; grandchildren: Christine (Craig) Appleman, Leatha Murphy, Bill (Cindy) Hodgeman, Brad (Amy) Hodgeman, Bryce (Julie) Hodgeman, Reid (Maiv Choj) Duddeck, Blair Duddeck, Tony (Janice) Byers, Carrie (Justin) Sieglaff, Sarah (Theo) Scholze, Eric (Rebekah) Byers; great-grandchildren: Kip, Karena and Clark Appleman, Reann and Linken Murphy, Kiah Hodgeman, Kaden and Corbin Hodgeman, Kyle and Kira Hodgeman, Ari and Ander Duddeck, Henry and Nora Sieglaff, Grant Byers, Zoie and Owen Scholze, and Zayda and Isaac Byers; sister-in-law, Rosemary Brevig; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mavis “Darlene” Byers will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be 3:00 P.M. in the Vernon Cemetery near Hillsboro.
