David J. Dombroski, 81 of Reedsburg, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at his residence.
Dave was born July 25, 1942 at a cottage on Devils Lake to the late John and Rose (Hatch) Dombroski. He attended St. Joseph’s Church and graduated from Baraboo High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War for four years. He had a long career as a tool and die maker for Rayovac, Gerber, and Zinga. In his retirement, he worked part time at Wintergreen and Trappers Turn. He was a member of St. John ELCA in Reedsburg.
He had a passion for sports and camaraderie. He was a long-time member of the Reedsburg Country Club, where his love for golf flourished. As a member of the Baraboo ELKs Lodge for many years, Dave embodied the ethos of service and companionship. He played football in his youth and never missed an opportunity to cheer on the local teams, Badgers, and Packers. He found the joy of competition on the bowling lanes where he competed for many years. Dave leaves behind a legacy of sportsmanship, community spirit, and strong bonds with his friends and family that will be remembered and cherished for long after he is gone.
Survivors include his daughters Devra (Jim) Dorner of Baraboo, and Kara Drager of Denver; stepchildren John McCullick of Gays Mills and Jeff McCullick of Cazenovia; grandchildren Chandra (Nate) Christensen of Lyndon Station, Alyssa Dorner of Baraboo, Brianna Dorner of Oshkosh, Ryan Mathews of Tucson, and Emilee Drager of Oshkosh; best friend Jane Zuehlke and her family John (Molly), Scott (Amy), Patrick (Iwona), and Jay (Amanda); great grandchildren Sawyer Christensen and Layla Christenson; nephew Tim Dombroski of Waukesha.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Vick, Jack, and Bob Dombroski.
A special thank you to Jamie McCullick for spending her time for the personal care she gave Dave through his illness.
