Delores I. Sanders

October 3, 1936 ~ March 13, 2022 (age 85)


Delores I. Sanders, age 85, of Reedsburg, WI passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She was born on October 3, 1936 in Wonewoc, the daughter of Walter and Irene (Reinecke) Larson. She was raised on a farm in Plum Valley. Delores graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1954. She had worked in the Hamburg Bakery for about a year and a half.

On October 15, 1955 she was united in marriage to David Sanders, and lived in Wonewoc for 1-1/2 years, and then lived in Reedsburg for 2-1/2 years. In 1959 they bought a 26 acre farmette in Loganville. They lived there for 44 years raising their five children. Delores worked at the Sauk County Health Care Center for 23 years.  She enjoyed square dancing for nearly 20 years, loved maintaining a large and meticulous garden, and also enjoyed lawn work and baking. In 2004 she and David moved to Reedsburg Independent Living.

Delores was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Loganville and participated in the choir and Altar Guild. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid Badger and Packer fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband David D. Sanders on January 6, 2014; and a sister, Katherine Larson.

She is survived by her children, Patty (John) Grauvogl, Don (Dawn) Sanders, Donna (Craig) Douglas, Alan Sanders, and Duane (Kris) Sanders; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several-great-great-grandchildren; sister Louise (Bill) Leary; and brother Lars Larson; along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Delores will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Loganville with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 16 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be made in St. John Cemetery, Loganville. Memorials of remembrance may be made to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Loganville.
