Dido Rachel Overgard Nash passed away peacefully at home on July 6,2025, at the age of 93.
Dido was born on January 30, 1932, in Brantwood, Wisconsin, the daughter of Evelyn Garhart Overgard and Bertha Schellin Overgard. She was an extraordinary person, graduating from high school at the age of 16 and college at the age of 19. She received her degree from the Platteville Teachers College, now known as the University of Wisconsin- Platteville, where she met her future husband Jordan Nash in a freshman Chemistry class. They became great friends until they reconnected on August 22, 1952, attending the wedding of Dick and Lynda Moon, where Dido was the maid of honor and Jordan was home from basic training with the Air Force. On December 27, 1952, they were married in Kramer, North Dakota.
After graduating, she began teaching English in Ashley, North Dakota. Then she moved to Arcadia, Wisconsin and taught vocal music and English. Then after Jordan completed his service in the Air Force, they moved back to Wisconsin. She taught at Weston High School, Spanish, Music and English. In 1962 to 1973 she taught English at Reedsburg Webb High School. In 1973 Jordan and Dido moved to Wausau, Wisconsin and she became deeply involved with volunteer work, most notably her involvement with American Association of University Women where she served as the local president and State president. She spearheaded a diversity training program and traveled throughout the United States facilitating Diversity training sessions.
In retirement Jordan and Dido moved back to their farm in Quaker Valley in rural LaValle.
Dido is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jordan Nash, children Randy Nash and Daughter-in-law Nell, and Karen Bauer and son in-law Stan, Grandchildren AJ Nash, Sarah Nash (Andy Cary), Lauren Nash Walton (Anthony), Julia Nash Larson (Mike), Gabe Bauer (Wendi Holloway), Matt Bauer (Tressa) and Aaron Bauer (Jessica), fifteen Great Grandchildren, dear nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by Parents Evelyn and Bertha Overgard, Brothers Ted Overgard and Jerry Overgard, Sister in-law Joyce and Infant Son Richard Jordan Nash.
A celebration of Dido’s life will be held on Saturday July 12, 2025. The family will receive visitors starting at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Valton Friends Church, Valton, Wisconsin with Pastor Stan Bauer officiating. Lunch will follow.
Dido’s family would like to say a huge thank you to the Agrace Hospice staff for their amazing support and to the friends and relatives who visited or sent cards in her final days.
