Donald B. Hanko Obituary

Donald B. Hanko, age 73, of Cazenovia, WI, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024. He was born on December 16, 1950 in Richland Center, the son of Bernard J. and Elizabeth (Kneip) Hanko. He graduated from Weston High School, and participated in wrestling. Don was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Germantown.

He farmed the family farm, taking over from his parents. Don loved working in the woods, and enjoyed snowmobile racing in his earlier years. He enjoyed a good meal at Culver’s, Irish music, old country classics, and bagpipes.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judith Lynn Hanko, and his niece, Heidi Myerscough.

He is survived by his nieces, Lisa Laverty, Tammy Fowell, Julie Potts, and Kristen (Bill) McAlpine; many great nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, rural Cazenovia with Father Nathan Thainase officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
