Donna Lu Kastner, born January 22nd, 1959, loving mother, devoted wife, sister, and friend, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, January 25th, 2025. Born in Highland, Wisc. to Louis and Esther Lightfoot, she loved horses and exploring the rural setting around her with her siblings and friends. 

After an accident in her early twenties took away the use of her legs, she persevered and adapted to her new life with strength and grace. She met her husband, Richard, in Cazenovia, Wisc. and married on August 12th, 1989. They made their home in Reedsburg, Wisc., one which Richard helped build to suit her needs and raise their two children, Joe and Molly. For 30 years, Donna worked in the office at Madison Area Technical College - Reedsburg branch, where she was the first face many new students saw, guiding them through their education. Donna loved raising her two children and visited them for many of their musical performances whether it be down the road in Baraboo or across state lines to Minneapolis. She was an animal lover, always opening her home to dogs and cats that found their way to her, as well as a skilled caner who spent her time revitalizing old chairs into new woven pieces of furniture. She was kind, generous, and always thinking of the needs of others, even in her final days. 

Donna was loved by many and is survived by her husband Richard, two children, Joseph (Laura) & Molly (Michael), and siblings Jim (Anita) and Sharon (Lloyd).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Esther, and two sisters, Joyce and Dianne.

A visitation is scheduled for 9:00 am on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 with a service following, celebrating her life, at 11:00 am at United Methodist Church in Reedsburg, Wisc. In remembrance of Donna’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the American Humane Society.
