Edward L. Koch, age 89, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was born on September 11, 1936, in Roberts, WI, the son of Edward J. and Mary L. (Johnson) Koch.
Edward grew up in Roberts, WI. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1957 when he was honorably discharged. While stationed in Germany, he met and fell in love with wife, Renate Dochtermann. They were married on May 25, 1957 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Edward and Renate moved to Roberts, WI where they raised a family. His hobbies included playing softball in his younger years, often on the pitching mound and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Matthew Koch and Roman Koch; sister, Marianna “Dotty” Forsythe.
Edward is survived by his wife of 68 years, Renate; children, Robert (Cindy) Koch, Anita (Paul) Martin, Alan Koch (Melanie Stenson); grandchildren: Tara (Randy) Murdzek, Nathan (Trisha) Stork, Corey (Chelsey) Koch, Brent Koch, Tony (Sarah) Koch, Taylor Koch, Blake (Karisa) Koch, Treyton Koch; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Jean Lindus; along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Edward’s life is private family. Burial will take place at a later date in Warrens Cemetery, Roberts, WI. Memorials of remembrance may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
