Eleanor (Ellie) Hackbarth was born on March 10, 1950 in Athabasca, Alberta Canada to parents Harold and Elizabeth (Betty) Wentworth. The oldest of three children she helped look after, (or get in trouble with), her two brothers William and Larry. Ellie attended school on the homestead with family members until they moved to town where she entered a regular school in 5th grade. The family later moved to Atmore where she met and married her first husband. Together they had two children Steven (Lisa) Johnson, and Wanda (Dale Darragh) Giesbrecht. Her little family grew to include seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild, Emma, Kyle, Logan, Hailey, Shead, Laurel, Natasha and Hannah.
In 1999 Ellie met her second love and moved to the U.S. where she married Elmer Hackbarth in 2001. Ellie is also survived by her step-children: Ronald Hackbarth, Donna Graham, Judy Strike, Susan Dostal, Mary Kumar; 12 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.
Eliie’s devotion to her family was always evident in the efforts that she put forward to make them happy. Her creativity knew no bounds and she used her talents to create moments and memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. She had an endless zest for life, a love of laughter, and a zeal for a good debate.
