Elizabeth J. Hanko, age 89, of Cazenovia, passed away at Pine Valley Health Care Center on Saturday, February 8, 2020. She was born on January 3, 1931 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Peter and Kathryn (Stengel) Kneip. On August 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Bernard J. Hanko. This marriage was blessed with two children Judith and Donald. Betty loved to bake and had been a cook and custodian at Weston High School. She enjoyed collecting dishes and stamps. She was always a hard worker.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish, Cazenovia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bernard on February 1, 2019; and daughter, Judith Lynn Hanko.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Donald Hanko of Cazenovia; grandchildren Lisa Laverty, Tammy Fowell, Julie Potts, Heidi Meyerscough, and Kristen (Billy) McAlpine; 14 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Germantown with Father Nathan Thainase officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the mass. Burial will be on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Germantown.
