Erma C. Thompson

Erma C. Thompson, age 93, of Reedsburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Our House Assisted Living, Reedsburg.  She was born on June 17, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Walter and Caroline  Pose.  On August 17, 1947, Erma was united in marriage to Robert S. Thompson. This marriage was blessed with 7 children.  Robert and Erma moved from Iowa to Wisconsin in 1967 where they farmed and continued to raise their family. Erma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Reedsburg.  She was an avid reader all her life and enjoyed different crafts including making unity candles which she made for all her son’s weddings. She also enjoyed making cornhusk dolls, knitting, crocheting, calligraphy, gardening and she loved her flower gardens. Bob and Erma also enjoyed square dancing and bowling in their younger years.

Erma is survived by her children, John (Lois), Jeff, Clint (Julie), Clark (Vicki), Ralph (Maura), Robb (Michele); 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Walter Pose Jr.

Robert preceded her in death on December 26, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Catherine, in infancy; sister, Josephine Talbott, and daughter-in-law, Meegan Thompson.

A celebration of Erma’s life will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Vicki Brantmeyer officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in Butterfield Cemetery.  Memorials of remembrance may be made to the United Methodist Church or Agrace Hospice in lieu of flowers.
