Ernest N. Kalb Jr., age 87, of LaValle, WI, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026. Ernie was born on January 10, 1938 in Darien, WI, the son of Ernest Kalb Sr., and Margaret (Piper) Kalb. He was raised on the family farm in Sharon. He ran his father's cattle truck business from 1957 to 1964 at which point he went over the road trucking until 1986. He and the former Virginia Wilkinson were married on May 14, 1961. He helped with Ginny’s country home for several years. They moved to the Kalb family farm in retirement and realized his lifelong dream of raising buffalo. They enjoyed being winter Texans for 16 years.

They enjoyed life together as Ernie always advised others to do. Ernie never met a stranger!

Ernie was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia on August 17, 2024.

He is survived by son Dennis/Dawn Kalb of Pittsville, WI; daughter Debbie/Rich Marzano of Loves Park IL; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Darien Legion Hall, 15 Market St. in Darien, WI. 53114.

The Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, is assisting the family.
