Etheyl (E.J.) Laky

Etheyl J. “E.J.” Laky, age 72, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Our House Assisted Living in Reedsburg.  She was born on April 1, 1950, in Reedsburg, WI, the daughter of Leo Joseph Laky and Ethel Brenson.  E.J. was a Girl Scout in her youth and enjoyed the Girl Scout Camp in Reedsburg where she competed in archery.  She was a 1968 graduate of Webb High School where she was involved in the band and choir.  Her father, Leo, was a pro golfer and teacher, and when any team needed another player to complete the foursome, she was always there to step in. She was a Mensa member since 1972. E.J. was employed at National Sportswear sewing factory until 1996, and as a Cage Cashier at Ho-Chunk until she retirement in 2015. She was united in marriage to Karen Bartle on October 19, 2015, and they spent 45 wonderful years together. She enjoyed bird watching, traveling and enjoyed visiting the Lake Superior area. She also loved to play cribbage, euchre and sheepshead.

E.J. was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Leo Laky.

She is survived by her wife, Karen, of Reedsburg; aunt, Lenore Austin, of Reedsburg; along with other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service for E.J. Laky will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
