Eugene A. Douglas, “Chub”, age 73, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023, at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. He was born on May 12, 1949, in Reedsburg, the son of Lee and Helen (Doering) Douglas.
Chub spent most of his life farming with his eldest brother Robert on the Douglas family farm. He shared so many fond memories about the farm with those closest to him and enjoyed joking and educating family and friends about life on the farm. He was also employed at Badger Ordinance during his younger years, and then worked at Grede Foundry where he retired. Chub was an avid reader. He read the Wisconsin State Journal daily, and anything pertaining to plants, animals, and history.
He enjoyed ice fishing, deer hunting, gardening, hiking for morels, playing cards, Saturdays with Chad, and spending time with his family, friends, granddaughters, and most importantly his brothers. Chub will be deeply missed by his family and closest friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Robert and Richard Douglas.
Chub is survived by his children, Chad Douglas of Reedsburg, Brandee Douglas (David Dyke) of Reedsburg, and Amanda Douglas of Madison; grandchildren, Paige and Kailee; brothers, Donald (Shari) Douglas of LaValle, Thomas (Diane) Douglas of Reedsburg, and William (Debbie) Douglas of LaValle; along with other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Chub will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Pastor Beth Voigt, Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Reedsburg officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be made at a later date at St. John’s Cemetery, Reedsburg.
