Eva E. Mittlesteadt Obituary

Eva E. Mittlestaedt, age 97, of Reedsburg, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center.  She was born on December 24, 1927, in Reedsburg, WI, the daughter of Herman and Bessie (Alford) Dargel.

On May 6, 1946, Eva was united in marriage to Irvin E. Mittlesteadt.  This marriage was blessed with three children. Eva and Irvin raised their family on her (Dargel) family farm south of Reedsburg. 

Eva was employed by the Sauk County Health Care Center for over 36 years in medical records.  In her retirement, she worked for Lands’ End for an additional 15 years.  Eva was an avid fisherman, always catching the biggest fish. She enjoyed many crafts including: knitting, tatting, making pottery, quilting and sewing to name a few.  She loved to travel with Irvin and collected plates and magnets from almost all 50 states. They were also loyal Packer fans. Irvin preceded her in death on August 8, 2003.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Evan Mittlesteadt in 1971, her parents, along with 8 brothers and sisters.

Eva is survived by her sons, Darrell (Janie) Mittlesteadt and Keith Mittlesteadt, grandchildren, Renee (Tyler) Potter, Ricarda (Tom) Adams, Travis Mittlesteadt (Val Johnson), Lindsay (Billy) Sprenger; 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Eva E. Mittlesteadt will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Reedsburg.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
