Evelyn Charolette Gurney, age 13, of Reedsburg passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 12, 2023. She was born on February 10, 2010, the daughter of Brian and Melissa (Berger) Gurney.

Evelyn attended Merrimac Charter School through the 5th grade before her family moved to rural Reedsburg where she currently attended 7th grade at Webb Middle School.  There she enjoyed her first year on the track team as a sprinter and long jumper.  Evelyn’s real passion was hockey. She began figure skating at age 3 and quickly found hockey to be her sport.  She was currently a defenseman on the Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells Youth Hockey PeeWee A Team.  She had a love for animals and enjoyed living in the country with the family’s dogs, cats and chickens.  She couldn’t pass a dog without trying to bring it home.

Above all, Evelyn had a big love for her family and friends. Her positive energy, warm smile and caring nature will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her parents, Melissa “Missy” and Brian; sister, Ella Marie; maternal grandparents, Brian and Jean Marie Berger; paternal grandparents, Bruce and Beverly Gurney; maternal great grandparents, Pauline “Sally” and Wayne Luther, and Sue and Pat Pejskar; maternal great-great grandfather, Herbie Sikora; aunts and uncles:  Brittney Berger, Brianna (Cody) Carlson, Barry Gurney and Jessica Kroeplin, Brenda (Stephen) Mason; along with many other relatives and friends.

Private family services will be held.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 beginning at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Lake Delton Ice Arena, 112 Miller Drive, Lake Delton, WI 53940.
