Gladys I. Beier, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Sauk County Health Care Center. She was born on April 18, 1938, on the family farm in the Town of Akan, Richland County, WI, to Homer and Ida (Goplin) McDermott.

Gladys graduated from Richland Center High School in 1956. On January 25, 1958, she was united in marriage to Duane George Beier. Together they were blessed with four children.

Following graduation, Gladys attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. After marrying, she devoted herself to caring for her home and family while helping on the family farm. Gladys had a kind and caring heart and always looked for ways to help others. She treasured time spent with family and friends, and especially enjoyed listening to music and hearing her family sing. She also loved her “Granny tablet,” spending many happy hours playing word games and watching or playing “Wheel of Fortune.”

Gladys was a longtime member of Valton Wesleyan Church, and later attended Valton Friends Church. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she remained active in church services held at the Sauk County Health Care Center. She also greatly enjoyed the many activities at the Health Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane; son, Darold Beier; siblings, Belva Jones, Letha Halverson, Ruth Gander, Everett McDermott, and Esther Dietzman.

Gladys is survived by her children, Judy (David) Felton, Cheryl (Jay) Sabatier, and Lee (Marita) Beier; daughter-in-law, Rose Beier; grandchildren, Brittany (Bart) Sonnenberg, Jenna (Kyle) Peot, Ross (Sarah) Beier, Stephanie Felton, Joshua Felton, Shelby Beier, Josiah Sabatier, Benjamin Beier, and Emily Beier; great-grandchildren, Mason, Claire, Matthias, and Isaac; sister, Luella Bell; brother, Alfred McDermott; along with many other relatives and friends who will miss her greatly.

Funeral services for Gladys I. Beier will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 12:00 noon at the Valton Friends Church.  Stan Bauer will be the officiant. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in the Valton Cemetery.
