Gwendolyn “Gwen” B Steinhorst 87, of Reedsburg, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the Sauk County Health Care Center
Gwen was born September 8, 1930 in Reedsburg to the late Sylvester and Marcella (Buckley) Friebel. On December 2, 1950, she married Robert H. Steinhorst. He preceded her in death April 6, 2005. Together the couple were involved in the restaurant business most of their lives. They owned and operated several local establishments including, Bob & Gwen’s, the Coach House and the Square Tavern where they started their business.
She was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan and loved being “up north” with family and friends. She also had a great love of music and was known to be able to play just about any instrument.
Survivors include her children;
Jean (Scott) Carpenter of Reedsburg,
Jim Steinhorst (friend Betty Hooker) of Reedsburg,
Nancy (Jerry) Rufenacht of Reedsburg,
Tom (Jeannie) Steinhorst of Anoka, MN
Jeff (Tammy) Steinhorst of Reedsburg,
Grandchildren; Rob, William, Becky, Amy, Stacie, Janell, Matthew, Danielle, Madeline and Tanner.
Thirteen great-grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Judy and two brothers.
Funeral Services for Gwen will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 11:00 am, at Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Reverend Paul Crolius, Pastor of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will also be on Tuesday, at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow services at St. John Cemetery in Loganville.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
