Helen Berndt Obituary

 

Helen D. Berndt, age 84, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Our House Assisted Living in Reedsburg. She was born on August 4, 1935 in Summit Township, Juneau County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ferdinand and Bessie (Miller) Krueger. Helen enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and the Grand Ole Opry. She was a huge fan of Loretta Lynn and was a member of her fan club.  Her favorite author was Debbie Macomber and had her entire collection of books.  She loved cows and collected a herd of them. Willie and Helen belonged to a Coachman’s Club and enjoyed traveling in their Coachman Travel Trailer and had seen most of the United States. Helen worked at the Lake Delton Wal-Mart for many years. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Loganville and in the Ladies Aid and Bible Studies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Reinhold Nemitz; brother Lester “Larry” Krueger; sisters Martha Penshorn, Clara Hall, Ardis Streck and Bernadine Mayer.

She is survived by her husband, Willis Berndt of Reedsburg; children, Jackie (Don) Rockweiler of Reedsburg, Daniel (Carol) Nemitz of Reedsburg;

Grandchildren: Brian (Stacy) Rockweiler of McHenry, IL, Corey (Lisa) Rockweiler of Rock Springs, Scott (Stacy) Rockweiler of Reedsburg; great-grandchildren: Ty, Nicholas, Trevor, Jacob, Emma, Wyatte, Gretchen and Brooke Rockweiler; brother and sisters, Ray (Leona) Krueger of Mauston, Dorothy Krueger of Milwaukee, Darlene (Dale) Kirkner of Milwaukee and LaVerne Schoff of Janesville; several nieces, nephews, and her dog Toby.

Funeral services for Helen Berndt will be conducted at 12 Noon on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Loganville with Pastor Donald Glanzer and Vicar Tyler Hoey officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg and on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Mauston Cemetery. Memorials of remembrance may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Loganville.

Helen survived the loss of her first husband at an early age, breast cancer, a major heart attack, and fought her Parkinson’s until the end. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Our House and Agrace Hospice Care.
