Henry M. Elfers Obituary

Henry Martin “Hank” Elfers, age 83, passed away following a three year battle with cancer on Friday, September 5, 2025, at UW Hospital in Madison surrounded by his family.  He was born on December 30, 1941, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Edwin and Lydia (Meyer) Elfers. 

Hank was a 1959 graduate of Reedsburg High School.  He attended the Farm Industry Short Course at UW Madison.  Hank was honored to farm his family’s farm in rural Loganville, retiring in 1988. He was also employed with Lime Ridge Ag Supply, drove taxicab for Reedsburg Cab Service and delivered parts for Auto Value.

On April 23, 1994 Henry was united in marriage to Deanna Kay Rosenberg in St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Loganville. Hank and Deanna enjoyed many camping vacations through the years.  Hank was also an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed golfing. He was especially proud of his hole-in-one and winning the Christmas Mountain Golf Course club championship with his grandson, Richie.  He was a big sports fan, following the Packers, Brewers and Badgers for many years. Above all, Hank cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John.

Hank is survived by his wife, Deanna; daughter, Julie (Mike) Strutz; Deanna’s children: Jeffrey (Betsy) Stevenson; Christine (Michael) Krintz; grandchildren: Macelyn Krintz, Richard (Macy) Strutz and Samantha Strutz; great grandchildren: Tate, Ryker and Kennedy.

Funeral services for Henry Elfers will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Loganville, with Pastor Peter Bredlau officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Loganville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, and on Wednesday morning from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
