Irene Laura Harms, age 101, of Reedsburg, entered her eternal home on Monday, October 28, 2024. She was born on April 18, 1923, in the Township of Honey Creek, Sauk County, WI, the daughter of Leonhard and Emma (Wenzel) Kuhnau.  Irene was Baptized on May 20, 1923 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac, WI and confirmed in her faith on March 21, 1937 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Freedom.  She was a 1941 graduate of North Freedom High School and graduated from Sauk County Teacher’s College, Reedsburg in 1943.

On July 7, 1946, Irene was united in marriage to Reinhard H. Harms in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North Freedom.  This marriage was blessed with six children.  Irene’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She was a very social person. She enjoyed organizing family gatherings; she shared those events listing the attendees and any changes in the family with her writings in the local papers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reinhard, son, Robert, son-in-law, Peter Taylor, and her parents, sisters, Lucille (Alton) Henke, Ellen (Henry) Harms, Olive (Donald) Feight.

Irene is survived by her children, Linda Taylor, Richard (Darlene) Harms, Lora Harms (Ted), Russell (Elvia) Harms, Ronald Harms (Debbie), daughter-in-law, Michelle Harms, grandchildren: Joshua (Johannah) Taylor, Jennifer (Mike) Syrjamaki, Nathan Harms, Janell Hopson, great grandchildren, Landyn and Gabryella,  Miles Taylor, John Syrjamaki, sister-in-law, Ione Harms, several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Irene Harms will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at St. Peter’s Ev Lutheran Church, Reedsburg, with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place before the visitation in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Loganville. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsburg.
