James K. Farrar, age 86, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Reedsburg Area Medical Center. He was born on June 12, 1938, in West Allis, WI, the son of Donald and Elizabeth (Hilmer) Farrar. On January 25, 1964, he married Barbara Shupe. He served in the Army from April 1957 to April 1960 in radio repair including two years stationed in Germany. He completed a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in education administration at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He worked for Reedsburg School District in various teaching and administrative roles until retirement in 1993.
Jim is survived by his wife (Barbara), children, James J. (Kristen) Farrar of Davis, CA, Donal K. (Karen Hollensed) Farrar of Reedsburg WI, and Katherine A. (John) Kalepp of Weyerhaeuser, WI; grandchildren Allison, Samuel, Bethany (Preston), Austin, and Drew (Nick); great-grandchildren Emma and Paxton; and brothers Jack (Cheryl) Farrar and Daniel (Kathy) Farrar.
A private family service will be held at the Reedsburg Veteran’s Memorial at Nishan Park on Monday, January 27, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Reedsburg Food Pantry.
