Dr. James “Jim” Pawlisch DDS, 88, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Casa de Oaks in Reedsburg.

Jim was born on August 23, 1932 in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Dr. Otto and Anna (Musial) Pawlisch. Jim attended public school and graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1950. January of 1952. Following in the footsteps of his two older brothers, he enlisted in the Armed Forces of the United State during the Korean War. Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 as a bombing navigation technician with the Strategic Air Command B-47 air jet bombers.

After an honorable discharge in 1956, he attended Valley College in San Bernardino, CA, then transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On June 30, 1956, Jim was united in marriage to June Graf at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. Jim was accepted to Marquette Dental School and graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1962. His professional activities were 1968 President, Madison Suburban Dental Study Club, 1972-1975 Dane County Dental Society Board of Trustees, Wisconsin Dental Association, Chairman, Continuing Education Committee, 1976-1982 Wisconsin Dental Board of Trustees, 1984-1986 Dane County Legislative Chairperson, life member of ADA, WDA, and Dane County Dental Society.

Jim’s non-professional memberships were life member of Middleton Historical Society, Reedsburg Historical Society, Reedsburg Outdoor Club, LaValle Sportsman Club, NRA, American Legion, and a member of the Middleton Lodge 180 Free and Accepted Masons, and ZOR Shrine.

On May 1, 1993, Jim and June moved from Middleton to Reedsburg. His activities were 1986-1992 Founder and President of the Reedsburg Educational Foundation, 1996-1998 chairperson of the Reedsburg Public Library building committee, 1998 president of Reedsburg Old Settlers Association, 1997-2001 Reedsburg Area Medical Center Foundation Planned Giving Committee, and from 1984-2001 founder and owner of Victor’s Vineyard and Winery.

Jim’s hobbies and activities included a licensed pilot with instrument and commercial ratings. He was also a certified PADI SCUBA diver with diving experiences in the Caribbean Sea and the South Pacific. He loved fishing, hunting, and traveling with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife June; and a brother, Carl Pawlisch.

Jim is survived by his sons, David (Deborah) of Reedsburg, John (Brenda) of Sauk City, and Thomas (Irene) of Fall River; five grandchildren, Ryan, Anna, Sophia, Willow and Lauren.

Memorials of remembrance may be made to the Reedsburg Educational Foundation scholarship fund, Friend of the Reedsburg Public Library, or Reedsburg Area Medical Center Foundation.

Funeral services for Jim will be conducted Wednesday, August 25, 2021,  at 12 NOON, at the First Presbyterian Church, 148 South Park Street, Reedsburg, WI. Pastor Lisa Newberry will officiate.  Visitation will also be Wednesday, at the church from 10:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom.

The family would like to thank Casa de Oaks, St. Mary’s in Madison, St. Clair Meadows in Baraboo, and the Reedsburg Area Medical Center for the loving care they provided for Jim.
