James A. Roecker, age 78, passed away peacefully at home April 6, 2024, after a brief struggle with an aggressive cancer. He was born on March 8, 1946, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Wilbert and Monica (Haugh) Roecker. Jim was a 1964 graduate of Reedsburg High School and subsequently the UW Farm Short Course. He was honored with the FFA American Farmer award. Jim was a lifelong farmer. In recent years, he was a crop farmer, but most of his life was dedicated to dairy farming. In 1980, Jim was united in marriage to Shirley Licht, and from this marriage was blessed with three children. All his family was his truest source of pride and happiness. Jim was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lime Ridge, where he was currently serving on the church council.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Sarah (Zach) Landon, David Roecker, and Daniel Roecker (Megan Herritz); grandchildren, Ava and Hudson Jablonski, Kendal Hale, Chase, Rylee, and Zoey Roecker, Beau and Leighton Landon. He is also survived by his siblings, Jean (Marvin) Holtz, Ron Roecker, Mary Jo (Tom) Doepke, Larry (Barb) Roecker, Linda (Steve) Behn, Peter Roecker and Susan (Dan) DeBaets, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is further survived by many fond members of his wife’s family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, with Pastor Daniel Lewig and Pastor Conrad Prell officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Lunch will follow the service at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 426 S Albert Avenue, Reedsburg.
